The thread title says it all, is he a starter?

he has started one game i believe and has appeared in several matches this year. he had one very good game early (either KC or Colorado i think) and a fairly good preseason. he isn't likely to be a regular starter, but is contributing much more than last year.

Even though the team basically cannot score, he has not played enough in those games recently to be counted at fault. In a way, it seems that he might be getting a lot of playing time soon to attempt a change. Good preseason for him. He is quicker (vastly so) than last year.

    Cheers,
    Tim

If anyone in the team has to replace Etch, I would probally choose Quintinilla or Stoitch.

Convey is a fine player, and even faster then Quintinilla, but I don't think he can do the Job Marco does. I dont think any player in DC can seriously replace Etch and get positive results (Except the Bulgarian).

Given the way the guys who are starting have nor produced, Q2 must be really sucking in practice to not get a shot ahead of them.

    Stewart - 0 goals, 0 assists in 5 starts

    Convey - 0 goals, 0 asists in 5 starts

    Olsen - 0 goals, 1 assist in 5 starts

    Kovalenko - 0 goals, 0 assists in 4 starts

Alegria, 0 goals, 0 assists in 5 games, 4 starts

    Esky - 0 goals, 0 assists in 3 games, 1 start

Stoitchkov - 0 goals, 0 assists in 3 games, all off the bench

Curtis - 0 goals, 0 assists in 3 games, all off the bench

Quaranta - 0 goals, 1 assist the last 9 halves.

Etcheverry - 1 goal, 0 assists the last 9 halves.

That's the productivity in front of Quintanilla and despite that, he hasn't has only played in 2 games with 1 start. Granted, he didn't do anything in his time, either, but if he can't get ahead of the above-listed productivity, he must be really bombing in training.

An alternative explanation is that Ray would rather eat glass than bench an old fart and play a youngster.

I don't understand your selectivity. Just show the real stats. Heck, they're bad enough and still prove your point.

    Quaranta - 1 goal, 1 assist in 5 starts
    Etcheverry - 1 goal, 1 assist in 5 starts

i haven't been overwhelmed with his play, this year or last year, the times he has gotten out there but he does have some modest potential. i think he is a better player than chino and i'd have rather seen him in the line up than chino, but anyway.

while i will agree he seems quicker and faster than last year, he still isn't real fast or quick. he is pretty small.

he has a lot of skill and seems to play well in fast places. he seems to have some field vision. in my opinion, he gets a bit lost on the pitch.

i haven't particularly disliked his play but he still wouldn't be on the field in front of convey, olsen, stewart or kovelenko.

i wouldn't at all mind seeing him get some time, especially if marco gets the knife and misses some time.

i sure the hell would have rather seen him come in than namoff on saturday, but i do understand he wasn't on the travel team.

When I've seen him this year I've been impressed with his distribution. Although listed on the roster as a forward (and I'm pretty sure that's what he was playing last year), I think he's much more effective playing in a more withdrawn position. I'd like to see more of him.

    Agree with this completely..

The only drawback for Eliseo is his lack of size and get away speed that forwards need...

I think he would be perfect in a role right behind the two forwards, but we already have 3 guys on this team that can play that role comfortably (Etch, Stewart and Convey)..

Unless there is a big spate of injuries or the scoring bugaboo continues, he won't see much time IMHO...

The most I've seen him play was at the intra-squad scrimmage, last Spring. I thought he was one of the better players on the pitch then, and I think he would give us a better two-way performance than Etch could give us now.

I was really impressed by his attacking as well as his defensive play during that scrimmage. He was noticably faster than I remembered him being last year, and also because of a different hair style, I thought he was the Spanish player who had also tried out with the SOS.

I wish Ray would give him a legit shot. We couldn't do any worse than we have been.
