Two quick ones for United; Miller, and then Richardson's cross touched on by Bellion, off a defender, into the net.

Howard doing very well tonight, albeit against a relatively weak D1/CC side.

Howard being praised for being quick off his line again tonight.

Goal at the other end for Liam Miller, poked it in behind the Crewe gk.
    2-0!!

David Bellion seconds after the restart, hit it towards goal, deflected in for an own goal.3-0!!

Howard was "Alert" again according to BBC Radio...

United go up 2-0 thnx to Miller.

Bellion scores 3-0 as I type

Bodes well for Spector coming on...

You have to feel a clean sheet would be vital for Howard's confidence here. Even if it is Crewe.

Great save by Ben Williams on 20 yard volley by Miller.

    Pique coming on for O'Shea

I can't believe Man U's defense is letting Crewe get lots of shots. Granted, it's a wierd lineup and presumably a wierd formation. But still.

Should he be putting Rio or Heinze on instead?

I'm not really concerned about a clean sheet, as long as Howard is not at fault for the goal... a blunder here would cost him DEARLY.

How about the kid that was MOTM his last game out? You know, the one that SAF was quoted as saying would play today. Perhaps Spector still comes on, but shouldn't Spector be first off the bench, all things considered?

Pique is also quite highly rated, and hasn't gotten a taste of first-team action, AFAIK. At this point, its sort of a toss-up. I'd like to see Spector too, but I won't be too worried if he doesn't come on. Besides, as SAF has said Heinze will need to rest soon, it might be his time then.

I know there are logical reasons for everything but I can't help but think Spector is getting the shaft a bit if he doesn't play today.

Indeed. Too bad. I wonder what sorts of offers he get from other teams. Also, I presume he has an EU passport??

    A) He isn't going anywhere.

    B) It's really unlikely he will make the bench against Portsmouth.

    C) Breathe deeply. In. Out.

I think SAF was giving some players their first run out with the first team tonight, i dont think it has anything to do with Spector not as good as the other players that played today. Im still disapointed though. Atleast Howard has shown well today

Either British journalism is worse than I thought or SAF is a LIAR. He was quoted as saying Spector would play. It's his team to manage but I think he's an idiot for treating his players like this (unless there is something we don't know about yet such as Spector playing this weekend or a slight injury).
