I read that a few minutes ago in the BBC gossip page but I'm pretty sure it's nothing more than a tabloid pairing up a keeper that may be on the go to a team that may be looking for a keeper.

Journalism at its finest..."Print every single possibility we can that way we can claim we were the first to break the story."

Similar to the Mathis to Munich 'story' this week.

    Well, its not that silly.
The Guardian has it as well. Of course, they give it the s************s it deserves.

"Meanwhile, on the day Manchester United reserves prepare to take on Arsenal's youth team in the Carling Cup, further evidence emerges to support the theory that Alex Ferguson holds the competition in utter contempt. Word seeps out that Old Trafford overlord is eager to sign Edwin van der Sar on a free from Fulham and hand the Cottagers Roy Caroll in return: Carroll messed up spectacularly against Lyon in the Champions League last week ... but Alex apparently didn't notice that in last night's Carling Cup clash against Chelsea, van der Sar did exactly the same."

Didn't see van der Sar's error, but surely it wasn't that bad.

FWTW, Carroll is rumored to have been offered ~ $40,000 week to be between the sticks at Fulham. That's ~ $2M/Year for a potential though not a certain starter siunce Fulham also has Crossley in goal.

Now people understand why Kasey Keller may want to stay in EPL for a while longer?

AF is nuts... He talked about giving Howard a chance to recover and get his confidence and spirit back, then he goes shopping for a keeper without giving Timmy any chance to reclaim his form and the position (English Cups aside). I'm certain there are varying opinions, but how often does a keeper (even in Serie A) go without making a blunder or two?! It's nearly impossible to not make a mistake at some point. The worst of it is what happens if AF gets his way and another top flight keeper comes in? Howard will really suffer, as will a promising and highly touted international team career.

AF, please oh please don't make Tim Howard the next Roy Carroll on your roster.

Actually, nearly identical. vdS's might have been slightly more excusable as it was shot from closer range, but both were shot low directly at the keeper and bounced off the keeper's stomach into the goal.

Which is almost never a pretty site.

Even worse was the Arsenal keep's gaff against Man U. last night. Horrible.

I'd much prefer Howard to Fulham.

I think after watching the video of the goal that Van der Sar's goal was a tougher stop. It had some heat, completely screened by ?Knight?, and was misdirected by the same defender when it came through his legs. It doesn't look like as much of a howler as it sounded on the radio.
