I remember that too. We were trying to help him break Hugo Sanchez single season goal record. I remember calling it out as a farce. He scored like 10 goals in the last few games of the season after we had been knocked out if the CL and Barca were comfortably ahead in the league because we dropped points to minnows in April.
Yeah, which makes it pointless as an argument. It's used to go to whoever won the Messi vs Ronaldo game within the game, or to somebody with an incredibly perfect story and season like Modric. Arguably Iniesta could have scored himself the award after that legendary goal with Spain, but again, that was during peak Ronaldo - Messi then everybody else time. You can tell that the press was trying to manufacture a similar Mbappe VS Håland battle but I don't see it happening unless they play in the same league.
(🌖) Before the season starts, Madrid & Benzema should make the renewal agreement official until 2023. There is already an agreement but the signature is missing. Karim has a contract until June 2022 and his intention is to renew year after year. @polomarca #rmlive 🇫🇷✍️— Madrid Universal (@MadridUniversal) July 10, 2021
The post CR7 era has been a so-so time to be a Madridista but this guy’s been a big silver lining in every way. He’s elevated his game and more. I’m really not sure that people would’ve considered Benz a club legend 3 years ago but it’s basically unanimous now. Give this dude someone to play next to.
Idk what so-so time you're talking about. Real Madrid won LaLiga and could've won LaLiga again this year if a Valladolid player didn't made a horrific back pass that lead to Suarez goal. Benzema made nearly 200 goals for Real Madrid by the time Cristiano left. Not to mention he was a key contributor during the club's dominance in UCL. Anyone questioning Benzema's status as a legend pre 18/19 season is an idiot/troll.
Oliver Giroud has WC gold and Euro Cup runner up medal, whenever Benz plays for France they get dumped out of the tournament early. It is what it is, and its always a gamble to change a winning formula.

Always respected Benzema, even though he was asked to play second fiddle to Ronaldo. He did it for the betterment of the team. And then exploded after Ronaldo left. Legend for sure.
Lol, no. Benzema was third fiddle behind Cristiano & Bale. And you cleary didn't respect Benzema judging your comments in 2018. Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler The revisionist history among Benzema's former haters is comical.
[ABC] Karim Benzema refused to renew until 2024 and made it clear to the club that he would leave as soon as he felt his level had fallen because he did not want to become a burden. He accepted a contract renewal until 2023 with a 10% wage reduction for 2021/22 and a 15% wage reduction for 2022/23. #RealMadrid Benzema renovará hasta 2023, pero solo seguirá mientras se sienta bien https://t.co/KUH9hEDywv— ABC Deportes (@abc_deportes) August 1, 2021
Really unselfish on Benzema’s part. I think he knows he will need to make way for Mbappe, Haaland, etc., and it will be easier for the club to make a fresh start if there is a clean break from the old guard.
There's no way we are going to be able to afford buying 8 or 9 new players like in the old days. We would probably need close to a billion Euros.
In an age where it’s all about maximizing earnings especially at the end of your career aka one big final contract… refreshing to Benz’s take of signing a shorter deal to see how he does. Could've easily asked for more. I’ve grown to appreciate him more over time, he’s maturing in a way most don’t. Class.
