And in the winter, books. I've got new translations of The Iliad and The Odyssey that have been calling my name.
So is this like, an unplanned natural disaster where something goes wrong and the internet is shut down for six months, or like a personal issue where an individual chooses not to use the internet for six months? Because if the internet goes down unexpectedly, a lot of society would need to adjust - for example, pretty much anything involving money uses the internet, so if the internet suddenly disappears, you won't be able to use ATMs or credit cards for a while. If your paycheck is direct deposited, you may be out of luck. Most people don't have a bunch of cash on hand these days so there would be some difficulties for a while. Airplanes probably stop flying for a day or two until there's an alternate system for air traffic control that doesn't rely on the internet. Most long distance communication and most cell phones would stop working. Things like that.
This would’ve been a bigger deal back in the 80s. But nowadays with YouTube you can find videos that explain how to do all sorts of back-to-basic things
This reminds me of when my nephew was little and one time he got in trouble and wasn’t allowed to watch tv. And I told him y’know, when your grandma was little they didn’t even HAVE tv’s. And he got a really puzzled look and asked “then how did they watch things?”
"They didn't watch things. They sat on the porch and whittled. And they went to bed early. People died of diseases that are now easily preventable. They weren't as attractive as they are portrayed on TV shows and in films. Be glad you are young today." The Boomers have the best of it all- proper wildlife/outdoor unsupervised social upbringing accompanied by all the latest tech, which we don't always opt into, but it's there
