Considering the FPF has announced that Benfica, Porto, Sporting, Braga and Maritimo will have B teams, I believe this is going to have a great impact on how many home grown players will graduate to the first team. Since the B teams were eliminated youth players moving into the first team of the big three have suffered. Considering these players will be near the first team coach and at their disposal it will greatly benefit players in terms of playing time and the ability to prove themselves within the club of their formacao. When you look at the possibilities of the kind of teams that could be fielded you quickly realise that sporting has the most quality options. Below are some team lineups that i quickly put together. People with a greater knowledge of their respective clubs please put some prospective teams forward.

    Benfica

    ------------------Mika------------------
    Almeida--Vitor--Roderick--Martins
    -----------------Amado------------------
    ---------Pinto-------------Cafu---------
    -------------------Rosa------------------
    ------------Vaz-------Cavaleiro-----------

    bench: Varela, Faria, pimenta, coelho

    Sporting

    ------------------Ferreira-----------------
    Soares----Reis--Mendes--Marques
    --------------Silva-----Ca----------------
    Balde-----------Carvalho---------Solomao
    -------------------Eduardo----------------

Bench: Veloso, Llori, Chaby, Bruma, Betinho

    Porto

    ------------------Ventura-----------------
    Pinto-------Pinto--Ferreira----Lopes
    --------------Castro---Alex-------
    Caetano---------Oliveira---------Ukra
    -------------------Pipo--------------------

Indeed. Hopefully, these will have a limit on the number of foreign players.

    Who's that Amado?

Ferreira? Is that granpa Tiago? He will end his career after the cup final.
André Marques will be out of contract next summer, Adrien Silva, Cédric Soares and Wilson Eduardo play to well for a second division. Amido Baldé isn't a winger, he's a striker.

    I expect something like this:
GK: Vítor Golas, Rafael Veloso (/Luís Ribeiro?)
    RB: Ricardo Esgaio
CB: Nuno Reis, Pedro Mendes, Tiago Ilori (/Eric Dier?)
    LB: Atila Turan, Mica Pinto
DM/CM: Agostinho Cá, João Mário Eduardo, ?
    AM: Zezinho, ?
    WF: Bruma, ?, ?
    CF: Betinho, Gaël Etock

With players from the first team in need of PT playing some times for the B team.

Some might go on loan to Cercle Brugge. I expect William Carvalho and Amido Baldé to stay there next season.

Best way to ensure Liga Orangina becomes a hotbed for Portuguese players...instill the same sort of rules Serie B/C teams have in Italy, only 1-2 foreigners per squad, the remainder must be Portuguese.

The u19 defeated Latvia today 2-0.
Amongst the starters and subs (who at this age group usually only have experience on the u19 league), this are the leagues where they've been playing with games started and goals scored in them, so far:

    Position | Name | Team | League | Starts | Goals

GK Bruno Varela Benfica B Segunda Liga 1 0 *
LB João Cancelo Benfica B Segunda Liga 9 1
CB Tobias Figueiredo Sporting B Segunda Liga 5 0 **
CB Fábio Cardoso Benfica B Segunda Liga 4 0
    LB Pedro Rebocho Benfica u19 u19 League 8 0
    DM João Teixeira Benfica u19 u19 League 6 0
    CM Tomás Podstawski Porto u19 u19 League 7 0
AM Rony Lopes Man. City u21 u21 Premier League ? ?
RW Bruma Sporting B Segunda Liga 9 2
    LW Carlos Mané Sporting u19 u19 League 8 4
    ST André Silva Porto u19 u19 League 8 12

    GK José Costa Benfica u19 u19 League 5 0
    CB Rudinilson Silva Benfica u19 u19 League 8 0
    DM Leandro Silva Porto u19 u19 League 5 1?
    CM Luís Cortez Sporting u19 u19 League 5 1
    CM Didi V. Guimarães u19 u19 League 8 ?
LW Frédéric Maciel Porto B Segunda Liga 4 0 ***
ST Bocar Djumo Internazionale u20 u20 Primavera League ? ?

    * u19 League 3 0
    ** u19 League 2 0
    *** u19 League 2 0

Most of u19 league players in there have already been on the bench on the Segunda Liga, and will probably have their debut on the next few months.
And don't forget that Filipe Chaby and Iuri Medeiros are both injured and they also have some experience on the Segunda Liga. 5 games for Chaby and 4 for Iuri, although none of them as scored so far. That would make a total of 7 likely starters for u19NT with Segunda Liga experience, a rare feat most likely unsurpassed in the last decade, maybe more.

    We should compile a list of graduates from the B teams to the A teams or in some cases loans to other top division teams;

    Gomes - Benfica
    Almeida
    Roderick
    L.Martins(loan)

    Llori - Sporting
    Bruma
    Mendes
    Esagio
    Cedric
    Betinho

    Toze - Porto
    S.Oliveira
    Potdawski

    Pareira - Vitoria
    Rodrigues
    P.Oliveira

    Anibal(loan) - braga

    R.Ferreira - Maritimo

If there are any others who have been involved in the first team please add them.

I believe the b team system is making it easier for players to be given opportunities in the first team.

What do you mean by graduates? Players who made their debut for the A team? Players who have been on the call-up for the A team? Players who have played a certain number of games for the A team?

Do unofficial games count in the A team count? Do players who have made their debut before the B teams existance, even if they usually play for it now, count?

    About SCP players:

B teamers with previous first team official games experience:
    Santiago Arias
    Tiago Ilori (iLori not LLori)
    João Mário Eduardo
    Diego Rubio

B teamers with first team official games experience:
    Pedro Mendes
    Eric Dier
    Zezinho
    Ricardo Esgaio
    Bruma
    Betinho

B teamers with first team official games call-ups:
    Victor Golas
    Fabrice Fokobo

B teamers and YT players with previous first team unofficial games experience:
    Juary Soares (B team)
    Filipe Chaby (B team)
    Luís Cortez (B team)
    Iuri Medeiros (B team)
    Rúben Semedo (u19)
    Farley Rosa (u19)

A teamers with B team experience:
    Marcelo Boeck
    Bruno Pereirinha
    Cédric Soares
    João Gonçalves (at V. Guimarães)
    André Martins
    Valentín Viola

Any player that has had a benefit from the B team existing, I think only official games can count.

That's not what I meant. What are your criteria to determine if a player has graduated to the first team?

A player who is in serious consideration for a match day squad

B team policy so far has been a success, it will be interesting to see what players come through this season.
I would love to see Romario Balde play in the Benfica B team, lots of potential.

I think it's fair to say the B team system has so far been successful, hopefully sportings success this year will pave the way for others to be given fair opportunity, I personally believe their needs to be a rule amendment to allow a maximum of 4 foreign players in the starting 11 and a maximum of 5 to be used in the match day squad.

You mean in 2nd division, just among B teams, or in a Liga?

Porto, Benfica, and Sporting are all high up in the standings, having success with mostly youth Portuguese talent. It's great to see. It's just a shame some of those Sporting and Benfica kids are stuck at the B level. As we've seen with Joao Mario, some of them are good enough to start on any team in the league minus the big 3.

I'm saying the B teams of the big 3, in the past these players would have been loaned abroad or into a liga team battling to stay in the first division or a poorly run 2nd or 3rd division side without the necessary support to help a player turn from a amateur to a professional. Toze, Esgaio, Cavaleiro, Semedo, Cancelo, Chaby, Ponde, Mane, Ivo Rodrigues, Rafa etc etc are ready to make the jump to be squad players for the big three or starters for Liga sides. You look at the next generation after them eg Moreto, Idrisa, Sanches, Romario, Guedes, Guzzo, Rochina, Ponde, Mata etc and their are clear benchmarks for these guys to aim for, this pathway didn't exist not that long ago and this week in week out football will mean these lung guys will come into the first team as professionals and not juniores trying to turn into professionals
