XP keeps dropping the wireless connetion, and i guess its cause its trying to search for a better signal (constantly) so in doing so it ends up dropping the current signal, despite the fact that its perfect.

    this is getting frustrating.

is there like some viagra fix for this to keep the connection up?

Are you sure you don't have anything plugged in that's interfering? I had a serious issue like this that was really, really annoying and frustrating.

I installed ephpod for my ipod, and, after that, whenever I would plug in my PDA with the USB or my ipod, the connection would drop and come back and drop and come back and drop and come back... over and over. It was horrible.

Could you be having a similar problem? Is anything plugged into your computer at the time?

It was on a laptop for me.

    firmware?

and its not an interference thing. it just drops the connection every half hour or so (which is an improvement over the 2-10 minutes it wouldve been before i did some minor tweaking).

Is there a reason that it should be searching for a better signal? IMHO, unless you're trying to map hotspots around town just pick a signal and have it stick with it.

nah its not ME who keeps switching the signals. i keep it set to my router (it picks up like 2 other networks, but with very weak signals), and it used to randomly drop my signal every so often, then it would let me re-connect (but it wouldnt do so automatically).

i got PCTel which is a program that manages the wireless connection, and i aslo turned off something in the administrative XP settings (which, by itself, didnt work). with PCTel, all seems good now.

firmware, updated drivers. goto the site of the card and the router and get the updates for both models
