The Italian midfielder joined Liverpool in 2009 but made just 28 first-team appearances having spent the last two seasons on loan in his homeland. Everyone at the club would like to wish Alberto all the best for the future.
"Liverpool FC have offered an astonishing £7.6 million bid for a Friday night date with Alex Morgan." Brenan Rogers on the deal: "Have you seen the new 'Batman' yet? Its terrific. There's showings at the 3d IMAX theatre at 7:10, 8:05, and 9:20. Let me know, we can go for dinner beforehand " "It is widely thought that with the love spurned Andy Carroll on his way out Rogers' schedule for weekends will free up immensely without the need to chaperon the young striker to Boy-Zone concerts at the O2 centre"
Because they're generally cheaper for higher upside if you scout well. Many bust they cost half of what their UK bretheren seem to cost. If you can scout, and it seems LFC can't, they're a better value.
I think you are referencing terps post. I am a huge supporter of Rafael but AA was undoubtedly a big mistake. But it started with the idea that Gareth Barry would be an improvement over Alonso. Even the best can make big mistakes
I would really like to see this Allen thing wrapped up soon. Do we have to wait for him to take a physical after the Olympics? Is that it?
it turned into the real mistake when Rafa was fired. What I said was that if Rafa had stayed, he would have certainly then kept playing an injury free AA. Instead, once he was gone - the management decided that they didn't want him and instead went on to make two of the oddest loan decisions of all time. That said - AA also didn't seem to care to be here - his head was in Italy. So it certainly was a Rafa mistake, but what followed was sheer comedy.
100%. Rafa's zeal for constantly driving his players to "perfection" drove Alonso away and ruined a perfectly good mix of midfield players that was on its way to dominating the league for a few years ina row. It's really sad when you think about it. But, Alonso has to share some of that burden, because it took him being mad at Rafa (and growing a beard) to have his best year in a Liverpool shirt before he left.
Probably a due diligence matter for the lawyers and insurance and CPAs. But I agree it would be nice to get it done.
This is the biggest issue. AA never seemed to be "up for the fight" when it came to staying here. He was oft injured and looked mostly disinterested in defending at the speed required of this league most games. When he had the ball, he was a gem, as seen in preseason. But, off the ball, the game often passed him by.
There's just certain level of comfort to be taken from seeing a new player slap the sign and raise the scarf. We haven't seen enough of that around these parts for the past few seasons, and I think it has worn all of our patience down with "management".
Meanwhile in a parallel universe, LB and 26 seem to agree on something. I'm in the twilight zone. I read something on this board a few pages back about Bellers contract being bought out or something. Is that true? If so why?
I may not have been raised to be polite, but I am not so petty that I would ignore a good observation!
reading Kristian Walsh and others who seem to know something, Aquilani was Macia's big move from most reports, that many of Rafa's backers had suggested others (including a certain Portuguese Chelsea midfielder who departed) but he went with Macia. It is what it is, but it's not as easy as saying that if Rafa had stayed or if Rafa had a chance that AA would have been great. One of the worst moves in Liverpool transfer history.
"Buy High (£20M), Sell Low (£4M - wages and bus fare)!" "So...Turned Out He Wasn't the Next Xabi Alonso" Just off the top of my head.
