That's kind of a hard one, because often the thing that makes a great striker is the ability to stay cool in situations like that. The best advice I could give would be to practice lots, preferably with others, to recreate the feeling of getting a half-chance which you have to take well. If you do this quite a lot it should help you avoid panic when you get a proper chance.

Also, try to focus totally on striking the ball well, without worrying about anything else. Whenever I get a chance all I see is the ball and my foot, and I tend to score a lot. :)

In order for this to work you have to have a good idea of where the goal is though, otherwise embarrasing misses are possible.

when I get on a fast break, the first thing I look for when I get past the last defender is the goal, then I know where the goal is......

When I get closer, Ill take another look to where the goalie is and where he is going...then I just put the ball where he cant reach....it just takes practice...

Perhaps try meditating and visualizing goal scoring situations. Close your eyes and imagine everything involved in the play. Imagine your run, your teammate making a pass to you, you collecting the ball, and you finishing with a goal. Try to imagine as much detail as possible with you staying calm. Hopefully when it comes to gametime your mind will remember your meditations and you'll be more relaxed.

When you are getting near to the box think of deaking out the goalie. It seems that if you were playing a game with a defender and all you had to do was get the ball past two cones that were placed as wide apart as the net, it would be easy. Just do the same thing you would do to a defender, pretend the goalie is a defender. Just think, all you have to do is put it out of his reach, and he will have no chance. Just like if he were a defender. Perhaps, try a drill where you are playing with your friend. Make a rectangle with cones, one side as wide as the net and the other side about 18 yards. STart on the long 18 yard side and try to get it by the defender. The rules are, if the ball goes out of the box you lose. If you are able to get it past the end line, even if it isn't in control you win. Just do that and I hope you will get better.

Firstly their are natural born goal scorers and then thery are forwards guys like Owen, Ronaldo and Henry are natural goal scorers guys like Heskey are just forwards. Its like a 6th sense on knowing when to pull the trigger and where the goal is.

Firstly don't freak out if you miss it happens to everyone always be ready to pounce even after a tough miss they all cant go in as unnerving as that maybe at times, just stay focused and ready to unleash your shot and also know wht type of shot is needed to beat the keeper as well, there is no need to blast a shot after you alrady beat the keeper on a breakaway for example.

It just bolis down to composure and natural instinct if you dont have the instinct you will still get goals from having composure and proper form but the insticts are what make the players like Raul.

I had the exact same problem last year. I could finish any ball in practice but when it came to it in a game I had alot of trouble finishing even the simplest of balls. I couldn't stop that no matter what I did. This year it's completely different though. I stay completely cool in the games because I'm a much better player an I have alot of confidence in what I can do. I've finished almost all of the balls I've gotten. Just think you're better than everyone else; it works wonders.

Being served all diferent kinds of balls. So no matter what kind of service you received
you seen it all before. A lot of repition. Can't be afraid to use your least favored foot.

Also when you beat the last defender forget about him. The best way to do that is immediately step into his lane of pursuit so he can't recover.

Finally, when it is you and the keeper do something to get him to move left or right. Then when he moves you place the ball where he was before he moved.

Put some thought behind your shot.

Also when you shoot far post, put some shiite on the ball so the ball spin is moving towards goal after it gets by the keeper. So it won't slide by or hit the far post.

If you believe that you can hit the ball well enough to score, then there is no need to be scared! I know it's easier said than done, but the reason why strikers like Owen and Henry are so well composed infront of goal is because they believe in their own abilities.

I guess this is kinda like when actors get nervous when they get on stage.... From what they say, you should imagine everyone being naked and that will help you calm down....of course that might be bad if you're not in a co-ed league. (or maybe you're supposed to imagine yourself naked, I can't remember) maybe you could try that

Yeah, but a nice dose of testosterone and a little sexual frustration can go a long way towards improving your scoring chances!
