.....from the Irish Daily Star (Eamon Dunphy) Roy Keane was at it again this week. And it's becoming tedious at this stage. The Corkman has turned into Mr. Rent-A-Quote, spouting about things he knows nothing about on a sickeningly regular basis. When I collaborated with Keane on his autobiography six years ago he told me that the two types of people he hated most in life were "politicians and bullshitters". But he's turned into a politician and bullshitter himself. Over the past few months he's talked of how Steve Staunton was badly treated as Ireland manager. He's said David O'Leary should get the Ireland job. Then he said that Terry Venables should get it. There have been his tirades about the WAGs and England players as well. He was asked about the Cork GAA strike and offered his opinioneven though it was clear that he didn't know what he was talking about. The core of the dispute is the right of a manager to pick his selectors but Keane seemed to think the players wanted to pick the selectors. Why doesn't he button his lip if he doesn't know the full facts? Keane surpassed himself when backing the ludicrous proposal to play some Premier League games abroad. Virtually no one else in football is in favour of this nonsense and it beggars belief that Keane has backed it. After all he used to be very critical of the demands on players - like lengthy trips to play friendlies and so on. Now he thinks it would be a great idea for Sunderland to go to Singapore to play Wigan. It's depressing
Ahh, the Daily Star. Quality newspaper. Roy is some man. He is both a politician and a bullshitter. I thought it was one or the other. But he's both. That's why he is King Roy. Doesnt mean he supported Stan as a manager but says he was badly treated, which I think most people with common sense would agree with. So?? Spot on. if you're asked a question, you kind of have to answer it ya know. But I thought... Ahh, tabloid "journalism" as it's best...
haha, i needed a laugh, The blessed Eamonn has spoken again. If only we'd had Eamonn Dunphy in Taipei Irish football would not be where it is today. The most surprisinging things is that Tappattoni is manager and not Eamonn.
