There is quite a good summary of the NSL teams and how they line up for this season at http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/09/18/1063625161517.html Adelaide: Finals contenders Brisbane: Strugglers Kingz: Strugglers Melbourne: Finals contenders Newcastle: Finals contenders Northern Spirit: Strugglers Olympic: Finals contenders Paramatta: Title favourites Perth: Finals contenders South Melbourne: Title contenders Sydney United: Finals contenders Wollongong: Strugglers Crowdie.
Northern Spirt have moved from North Sydney Oval to Pittwater Rugby Park. Means moving from a venue close to the city & public transport, to a hard to get to (unless you live on the Northern Beaches) venue. But, the upside is a rectangular field, no cricket pitch, and a much smaller crowd needed to break even.
Mine Adelaide: Finals contenders Brisbane: Improvers Kingz: Wooden Spoon Melbourne: Finals contenders Newcastle: Finals contenders Northern Spirit: Door knockers (7th) Olympic: Finals contenders Paramatta: Title favourite Perth: Title favourite South Melbourne: Title contenders Sydney United: Finals contenders Wollongong: Improvers I don't see Adelaide doing well but i will agree for now!
Dear Glorious Fan, I sense a bit of hostility in a number of your posts about anything to do with NZ soccer. Crowdie.
Brisbane have moved back to their original ground when they were Brisbane United before the glitz and glamour of Ballymore and Suncorp Metway Stadium got to them. Perry park is the home of QSA i think. Northern spirit say that there is a huge support base for them there and North Sydney is hard to get to. Glory are at the Arena Joondalup for now and travel 68,000 odd kilometres for their away games. I am glad it is for now because the ground surface is great but the rest is shocking. Cyclone winds, poor emankments, too open to elements, no atmosphere and it is in Joondalup! 20km north of me! (Perth Oval is 20km south of me anyhow!)
