...And I put "quickly" in quotations because I'm sure you can't really apply that particular adverb to the situation. Here's my issue: The missus and I are seeing the Gunners against Derby on the 22nd Sept, but we've also got tickets to see Ricky Gervais do stand-up at the Apollo in Hammersmith that night, which says we have to be there at 7:30pm prompt. So I'm asking anyone with experience, do you think we should leave the game early in order to guarantee getting over to Hammersmith on time (assuming we're taking the tube, but I suppose a taxi isn't out of the question)? I mean, I'm sure the Arsenal are already going to be 5-0 up at half time anyway. MM101
Assuming you are using the Season Tickets ArseAm has, you need to give them back after the game so leaving early and going to Hammersmith isn't an option. And unless you want to be tarred with the same brush as the prawn sandwich brigade, you shouldn't be leaving games early. The game finishes at about five. If you need to be in Hammersmith at 7.30 that is plenty of time.
Well, depending on who he goes with, if it is another ArseAm member who is meeting up with Rick afterward, he could give the tickets to them. Of course, that is putting a lot in the hands of others and I don't recommend it. True, true. But the tube lines are REALLY long as we all know. A bit of a head start might help. Though again, I hate leaving early. Tube lines again. But this all could have been avoided by proper planning ahead of time! Pub - Arsenal - Pub is the only real course of action on match day!
Yes, we're using the ArseAm tickets - I didn't think about the fact that they're season tickets and they need returning. OK, well, looks like we're just going to have to wing it then. It was mainly the tube lines that I was worried about. Hopefully we'll be able to track down Rick and then brave the hordes! I actually booked the Gervais tickets back in March before I even knew that ArseAm had a ticket scheme, otherwise I'd have picked another night for that! And heaven forbid, Mr Skizz, I should be lumped in with the prawn sandwich brigade! MM101
Firstly, send me a PM to aa tickets to remind me to try and sort paper tickets for you - makes it a bit easier for you. Secondly you need an hour to get to hammersmith. Therefore you need to be on the tube at 6.15pm latest at Arsenal as the tube at Hammersmith is right by the Apollo. You will be fine, no need to leave early. Just head back to the pub after the game - really and truely you will just waste your time queueing for the tube, just chill with a pint and then head on down to the tube once the queue has gone down.
Ants, if you Don't get the paper tickets you can get the tickets to me at half time, i'll be going to the pub post match, i'll give them to Rick , if he trusts me with such valuable items of course. Mind you he won't put himself out to help people. Disapointed you won't behaving a beer afterwards..bad planning . As for getting to Hammersmith you've only been away a few years not much has changed, you should be fine. Give me a call at work or on the mobile or cell as you foreigners call them(numbers the same) if you need any info
Cheers Terry. I know, if it wasn't for the fact that we bought the other tickets before we knew we'd even be getting to see a match then I would!! We should try and have a pint at some point while I'm there anyway. We'll be back in London the following weekend for the away match at West Ham. E-mail or PM me your number again, I lost it...
