Great question. It comes up every so often, so I'm going to answer this one more time.

Division 1 - from $500 a month to a reported $6,000 a month. Most guys are probably in the $2,000+ range. Many get apartments, few get cars.

Division 2: From $50 a game to $500 a week, but a few players have made as much as a $1,000 a week. Many get apartments, and even few get cars.

Lisa - do you think we can do a FAQ thread and Sticky it?

    thanks,

    Panicfc

The $6,000 a month range should be renamed to the "Velko range"

USL contracts are usually the length of the season. This allows players to supplement their income with indoor, coaching, clinics or even other jobs in the off-season. MLS contracts are year round, precluding them form any off season employment.

Even though the pay is during the season, I think most of the multi year contracts run through out the year. That's why you see a number of loan deals of players between the indoor and outdoor teams.

Also, with most of the MLS teams starting to do some training in late January / early Febuary and the season running into October, how much of an off season is there really to do something else.
