Musiala and Wirtz have contracts ending in 2026. I imagine the rumor mill will go into overdrive until they extend.

No clue about the validity of there rumors. I have a hard time believing them given the build of the squad.

Maybe if Rodrygo leaves or if they go full 4231 next year and move Bellingham back into the double pivot. Seems all farfetched.

I find these reports to be just a bit disrespectful to Vice Captain and lifelong club servant Dani Carvajal. Would be nice to see the club try to distance itself from these rumors.

And this is Real Madrid, the biggest club in the world. Every agents would throw our names to the press during re-negotiation. Trent is set to be the most sought-after free agent in the summer of 2025. He also plays in a position where our starter is going to be 33 years old before the end of the season and his backup is even older. In this modern age, journalists, pundits, social influencers, and anyone with an online presence are prone to connecting the "dots." Seeking greater viewership or followers, they often propagate believable rumors. Trent to Real Madrid makes a lot of sense for various reasons.

In this profession, everyone except CR7 knows that father clocks will come one day. They have seen their teammates or friends from other teams being phrased out. He and Lucas should accept that it's inevitable that someone young will be here very soon. They know that Trent is 25 years old and a free agent very soon.

Roncero is a lunatic and not a serious person. I think he should not be allowed to vote or drive a vehicle.

On the contrary I think we're playing a very dangerous game with Dani who in terms of age and minutes played is like a steam engine now.

Overall, Trent is a nice player, going forward he is fantastic, his technique is almost flawless for a defensive player, his team have reached three Champions League finals with him as a starter.

However we have to put measures in place to protect him defensively, he is capable of Danilo level mistakes on his defensive game.

We’ve been spoilt by Carvajal who can throw his hat into discussions about the best two way right back in modern football.

We love Dani but come on, the Dani Alves’, Cafu’s, Lilian Thuram’s, Zanetti’s of the world will be in that conversation.

Dani Alves was not a two way full back.

The rest aren't in his era....

My guy what are you talking about, I said he’s one of the best two way right backs of the modern era not the ‘Carvajal era’. Fcuk me.

Add some interesting analysis, like why do you think Alves was not a good defensive player?

Dani is as good defensively as Marcelo. Alves is better than Trent defensively. I'd still pick Carvajal over him, heck Salgado was a better defender than Alves.

To be honest from the players you mentioned, Zanetti and Thuram aren't very good offensively. Marcelo, Dani Alves, Cafu, and Carvajal are far ahead of them on the offensive end.

Fair fair, some of this does come down to personal taste in what we like to see in a player, but Alves was solid defensively in his prime and a beast going forward. All of the great full backs were either slightly better in defence than going forward or visa versa, but both Alves and Carvajal belong in that conversation.

If Trent had the defensive output of Dani Alves then he’d be in a different league entirely.

Marcelo is arguably the best left back of all time going forward to attack, and his defensive game was just about good enough in his prime years to be in the conversation amongst the greats as an overall full back.

The fullback I initially wanted was Reece James but his injuries have derailed any shot he had of reaching his potential, he would have ended up being as good as an Ashley Cole in terms of two-way overall full back greatness imo.

I don't want Trent at Madrid.

Our team is already stacked in attack no need for an attacking full back that struggles with defense.

As for best LB's Carlos and Marcelo are the goats.
The fact that none of you mentioned Michel Salgado is also criminal.

I still hope we bring in a CB in Jan in an ideal world we would also bring in a CM.

Fullbacks that specialize in defense are often average defenders that don't contribute much up front and maskerade as "defense first" players.

Hopefully Dani has a lot of juice left, but I don’t see why we would be opposed to Trent on a free. He would come to replace Vazquez and he’s a versatile player.

There are hardly any truly elite fullbacks both in attack and defense. Yes, we’ve got superstars up top, but we’ve also seen how the offense can still remain stagnant when we can’t build up the play from the back. Plenty questions arose about Rudiger’s profile when we signed him too. I just think it’s a low risk, high reward type of signing especially since he’s going to be a free agent.

I know he doesn’t make an all time list, but for me Maicon at his peak was an absolute monster. Proper baller. Good in attack and defense, and that’s probably an understatement, excellent shot.. too bad his peak lasted like 3-4 seasons, but during that period he was unparalleled. Languished in relative obscurity until his mid 20s, probably would’ve been in the discussion had he been ‘discovered’ earlier.
