I agree but you have to consider the Guardiola factor, he always has those players that seem irreplaceable and then he just replaces them.

I do agree that he's absolutely excellent though, so hey i wouldnt midn having him at all.

No, it really is not what I was saying; that's what you made out of my post, and you are of course free to interpret to your liking and as you wish. However, to make it clear for you: I don't see not signing Rodri as a mistake.

Great player of course, no doubt.

Anybody that signs a deal for 2 mil. instead of 9+ and it's not an overseas situation is a complete dumbass. Yoro will be 26(?) at the end of that deal. It's an absolute no brainer.

I would rather not sign a player that's clearly stupid. It would surely show in other spots as well. If he'd sign for us I'd have to assume he's a total idiot.

I don’t fully blame him for taking the money.

All I gotta say is, enjoy playing in limbo land kid.

On what world is playing for one of the most popular teams on the by far most popular LEague in the world the "limbo land" on a contract that runs out when he's 26.

By contrast, Mbappe spent the same amount of time playing in France. That's a step up from Yoro.

9.5 ME is what Kroos earned per season and he was a legend here for a decade. Yoro would be crazy to reject that. We won't be able to afford world class starters in every position with such a wage policy. Utd meanwhile has a different path offering superstar level wages to Antony, Yoro etc.

Exactly, it is what it is. We can't compete at that level in terms of finances (and we shouldn't, it's a losing battle), but we can still offer (very) good value for most, and definitely the right, players.

This sounds like BS, Man United have offered him almost 5 times more money? Come on.

Let's be honest here. United are a has been club who has recently failed to develop players to their full potential. And they are a long way from winning any major trophy soon.

He may have his contract up when he is 26, but I doubt he would be valued as highly after his United stint.

The figure from us is also too low. If this website is correct, he would be the lowest paid player on the team. He would not be even earning half of Fran Garcia who is the second lowest paid players after Lunin.

I reckon we offered as much as Guler who's 4th in the list. I know Di Maria and Coentrao were on 1.8 ME nett starting salary. But that was 13-14 years ago. Yoro probably would have got offered what we gave Militao in 2019.

By the times he's 26 wages will have elevated to another level. His current 9+ million will be the norm at that point.

That or he’ll command an even bigger wage than the norm if he has won a couple of leagues and a UCL trophy. Which in a high probability he wont with United’s current situation, He’ll probably be an afterthought in a couple of years.
He wont even be consistently in the UCL either which hurts his stock.

We’ve seen stunted growth with our own Mbappe. At least with PSG, he was always in Europe’s top competition and he was already a top player.

But I do i understand him taking the money now. I just see it as a meh short-sighted move.

Signing for 5 years of guaranteed money to 2029 is the opposite of short sighted. Short sighted would've been to play out his contract year for a fraction of his signing bonus the way some people here suggested.

It's a rare case where i think the player did everything right. If he's as good as we believed he is, by the time his contract is over he'll be entering his prime and his value will have increased. If he's not worth signing in 5 years, he most likely wouldn't have been worth it for us either.

No one’s profile is going up by that much with this United team and manager.

I don’t know why we’re still talking about Yoro. He’s injured and a United player now. The ship has sailed, he’s never coming here. We don’t sign CBs unless it’s a Bosman (Alaba,Rudiger) now or the young prospect (Militao).

I’m not worried, we will find another young CB to get.

Imagine being a United fan having to endure the mess they have had to endure especially under him, painful.

He’s basically getting all his transfer targets as well, no excuses.

Their fans are witnessing Man City winning almost everything in England. I would not want to bear to see Atletico Madrid becoming the major team in Spain, but Atletico Madrid has been a much closer rival to us than Man City to them throughout history. I had seen them winning something. They are no a near trophy-less team liked Man City. Twenty years ago, no one in Manchester United could imagine them dominating over Man City. Such a shift is nearly unprecedented in football's recent history, making it an incredibly bitter pill to swallow for Manchester United fans. While all of this happening, Man United is outspending Man City.

While I am at Atletico Madrid, they must be the sorriest club in the history of any form of rivalry. They ain't a bad club liked Espanyol or Munich 1806 in the place of the Barcelona derby or Munich derby. They did have some trophies in their museum that is worth something, but they could not win the big one while 15 of those trophies sat in the same city. In the brink of victory in the 1974 European Cup Final, they gave up a last minute goal against Bayern Munich. On their return match, they lost 4-0 and the Cup to the Germans. History should not happen, but exactly 40 years later, they again returned to the CL Final and I don't need to explain the story. But unlike in 1974, they have to return home to a city in celebration of the CL victory. And they again returned to the 2016 Final, and we also know what happened. Please don;'t forget that they lost in a penalty shootout.

And in the history of European Cup and CL, Bayern Munich's defeat in the hands of Manchester United in 1999 must be the most bitter. They were minutes away from a victory. Atletico Madrid suffered similar fate twice, but they were was slightly better given they lost in a rematch and during extra time. The next worst type of defeat must be penalty shootouts. To the best of my recollection, there have been a total of 8 European Cup/Champions League finals that were determined by a penalty shootout. With the exception of Atletico Madrid and AS Roma in 1984 when Liverpool triumphed over Roma, every team that lost in these finals already possessed a European Cup/Champions League trophy in their collection as of the present day. And finally, they managed to win the Europa League in 2018, a consolation trophy, but they again have to endure another CL victory celebration at home a few weeks later.

    More Wirtz rumours out there.

Is his profile any different from Arda?

Personally, the bitter people are mostly online. Whenever I met with fans at games, the appreciation/fear factor for Real Madrid is huge.

Even across the boundaries of the sport, I've seen clubs play youth tournaments at the fancy training fields of the first club when Madrid plays, or the first team stadium in Basketball right away.

It's just idiots online that yell and complain, it has to have been since the Beckham team fell apart that I've heard the club being criticized heavily elsewhere.
