Conspiracy theories are getting more hilarious. They renewed Carlo midway last season till 2026 instead of getting Xabi this summer because club wants Carlo to go trophyless this season and sack him in 2025 in order to get Xabi. Like seriously?
Because Carlo had already said Joan will play youth team matches. Carlo wasn't gonna play a 17 year old without even Castilla experience. Raul Asencio and Jacobo are more experienced if he chooses cantera route (which is unlikely). CB options will be pretty much we had last season with Militao available instead of Nacho. Tcho played some big games as CB so is proven as back up option.
Well, not for nothing, but managers don't tend to like going into lame duck seasons. Carlo was already in one as it was, it might've been a stipulation of his that 2024-'25 wouldn't be another contract year for him, that he has some safety. After all, odds are the Brazil job would've been through the 2026 World Cup and if he turned down that job then there was no guarantee he'd get another shot at it before then. Regardless, I'm aware enough to call it a bit of a nutty conspiracy theory. I'm not saying I believe it, but I'm sure even the most rational people sometimes get these kinds of amusing thoughts in their heads where, if you squint, you might find some rationalization.
As per your conspiracy theory, they had set up Carlo last season too. Two ACLs and no CB signing. Tcho wasn't even that experienced playing CB then. So the plan was to renew Carlo mid season and sack him in the summer?
How dare the Arabs try to poach these natural born Spaniards like Vinicius, can’t they develop players from their own continent instead of making wild bids for ours!!
It's not like Middle Eastern and European countries look much different these days. In some years, playing the Saudi League will be the same as playing Ligue One. I think they may even join the Champions League at some point. Don't think UEFA would pass on that "enrichment" lol.
I think Vitor Reis is Juni's new option for CB. Hopefully, Chelsea doesn't come in and offer 50-60 M or sth to push us away.
Vitor Reis is having the most intense August a youngster could have in Brazil and playing damn fine. Looks like a veteran sometimes. Palmeiras' youth system is just insane.
I reckon Palmeiras wouldn't want to sell him until the season ends? Even January transfer could be tough given they are taking CWC very seriously.
It was very expected that Real would not bring DC to strengthen the team, our window is closed. not even a player on loan/free transfer, rather it is ironic that they always get injured in places that Florentino does not want to strengthen.
Maybe because it's the only position which doesn't have a natural sub available at the start of the season and would require weakening the midfield to cover it up.
What is your definition of "natural sub"?, we have 4 first team defenders one of which is injured until Dec possibly and young CB's at Castilla, is a natural sub the equivalent to the best young CB available worldwide?, or just anyone as long as the fans think he's better than Vallejo, who, having watched his goal yesterday ( just imagine Endrick or Arda had scored that we'd be seeing it everywhere) seems fit and ready for at least "the start of the season" on Sunday, i get the injury concern, that makes sense, but i guess no one rates him now like say..... Joselu last season
I thought this was about Camavingas injury where we have about 4 million midfield players on the squad.
if we lose a DC tomorrow , you will see Tchouaméni as a DC, but now you dont have Camavinga as a DMC.
There is basically no 3rd CB or backup DM until Camavinga is back since Tchouameni is starting. Carlo is going to have to explore some formations without an explicit DM, double pivot? Otherwise Rudiger/Militao/Tchouameni are playing every game for the next 7 weeks.
I think Tcho will be rested in home games like vs Valladolid. Would be interesting to see if Vallejo will get minutes in such games. There's two week international break in first week of September and same in the first week of October so Camavinga will miss 4 weeks of RM games if he recovers for 8 weeks.
The midfield options off the bench who can play deeper are basically Modric and Ceballos. Not exactly optimal. Against weaker competition, Modric could play with Bellingham/Valverde. Ceballos can line up in a double pivot for the odd game with either Valverde/Tchouameni. They have 5 subs, Carlo needs to use them early if he doesn't want to rotate starting mids. I suspect Guler will see some minutes in midfield. But he is not really box to box, so you probably want Tchouaemni playing DM if Guler is playing in the midfield. Haven't heard anything recent regarding Nico. Curious if Carlo will have him as a bench option the next few weeks.
You know what's funny, I suddenly forgot Vallejo existed. . That's how irrelevant he has been. Alaba I don't trust until he is match fit. But I'd assume he'd go down a level due to age and injury. Both are injury prone which is a worry. With Camavinga out, the team is just an injury/ suspension away from Dani at CB again. I don't think Carlo trusts Vallejo.

🚨BREAKING: Real Valladolid sign Mario Martin on loan. @relevo pic.twitter.com/KyheFZvt4L— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) August 15, 2024
Interesting. So contrary to earlier reports, Carlo not counting on Mario Martin while Jacobo is registered with RM squad in La Liga.
Thought this was obvious. He could develop to be something, but right now? He ain't it. It was weird reading people see him as being a part of the team. Lol he would be abused relentlessly for some of the mistakes he was making if the match wasn't a pre-season friendly
