I would understand if Vini wants to take the offer. But if Saudi wants to offer silly money to Vini, pay us this time which is 1 billion buyout clause. They got Benz for free while paid a lot for washed Neymar. Yea, I get that Neymar was under contract, but it was a albatross contract until Saudi came into the picture in 2023. Maybe we pay Haaland's 200 ME clause and pay remaining 800 ME to clear Bernabéu renovation loan.
Oh to be clear I’d much rather have Vini than the €400m or whatever for the precise reason you and @Umar articulate. but if he wanted to go (he won’t) and fetched such a crazy fee I wouldn’t force him to stay against his will.
I think Vini is likely to get RM extension by next summer if he stays. From around 10 ME nett to 15 ME which is what Mbappe is earning apparently. Saudi money will always be there until 2034 WC as long as he keeps his brand value strong. Maybe move there when he's 30.
Vini refusing this offer immediately puts him in a league of his own when it comes to his legacy with RM. You, me, nor anyone else on these forums have no idea what it's like to be tempted with 1 billion. And to have your head screwed on like that at the age of 24 is wild. Vini came into the first team when Ronaldo left. He was supposed to be a talented "gamble". We then brought in Hazard as a "reliable star". Earning a salary so much higher than Vini that it hurts my brain just thinking about it. Then Vini got thrust into a big boy role because Hazard was not performing. Expectation was high because he played the "Cristiano" position. We lacked someone who could penetrate that last line of defense, Vini became that. It wasn't easy, criticism was there all the time. But he became the best player in the world in front of our eyes, despite the racism. He's already won two CLs with us. Scoring in both finals. And then he rejects a billion Euro offer from Saudis... This kid is unreal. We don't deserve him. Honestly we don't. I don't think anyone does.
Vini and Bellingham haven't earned close to 100 ME from wages/signing bonus in their career so far as well. Haaland got 60 ME signing bonus from City and earns 25 ME nett per season when easily met variables are added. Mbappe probably made 500 ME already in wages and signing bonus from PSG and RM so far. Vini will be showing incredible priority towards his career if he rejects this kind of money from Saudi. Neymar's legacy is cash grabbing pretty much since screwing Santos in 2013. Vini will be a far different role model to next generation of Brazilian prodigies if he rejects 1 Bn/5 year deal from Saudi..
Wasn't there already talk a while back that Vini and Jude were set to get improved contracts after the Mbappé signing?
No way he leaves. Surely they've realised that a lot of players don't like playing in the country and will ask to leave a year or two in.
I would be extremely surprised if he asks to leave and join Saudi. I just don't see it but in football, never say never.
If Vini rejects the offer, he will do more for the raising of awareness about structural/systemic issues that cripple humanity than anything hes done with his anti racism campaign. Making the statement that money is an abstraction is the first step towards realizing that behind that abstraction is pure greed and exploitation. There are bigger things in life. On the other hand, if he accepts, all of his activism will prove empty. I hope he doesn't. What the Saudi oil barons are doing is an absolute travesty and a disgrace in an era of such global social and economic turmoil. If supply can't find reason, then demand (in this case, Vini) must.
❗️Just In: Given the information on Vini and Saudi Arabia in the last few hours and after speaking with those close to him, the feeling is that this story will have more chapters. Nobody is ruling anything out at this point.— @JBirlanga pic.twitter.com/ZlUqMJ0iL8— Madrid Universal (@MadridUniversal) August 13, 2024 I think Vini should speak and say clearly what he wants. All this rumours are not good
Vini has said multiple times that he wishes to stay with us forever. If players had to adress rumours everytime they would comment on it every week
So far, Saudis were able to fetch stars way past their prime like Ronaldo and Neymar or players in their prime but of significantly lower quality like Ruben Neves. Vinicius would be the first proper superstar in his prime to go there.
🚨 NEW: Real Madrid could offer Viní Jr. an IMPROVED contract - to avoid offers like the one from Saudi Arabia in the future. @marca pic.twitter.com/ti4bQy6fks— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) August 13, 2024 Could also be a ploy by Vini's entourage to get him an improved contract
‼️ Carlo Ancelotti believes a new CB is necessary, but Real Madrid's board thinks the squad is ready to fight for big titles. @MarioCortegana pic.twitter.com/QS5oQ5wK5J— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) August 13, 2024 I think I'm slowly beginning to lose my mind, this is just stupid, stubborn foolishness, trying to tell one of the greatest managers of all-time that they know better than he does. The version of me who keeps tinfoil hats under my bed would suggest they're setting up Carlo to fail this year to make it easier to transition to Xabi in time for the 2025-'26 season instead of feeling compelled to see out Carlo's contract and potentially lose out. I won't admit to whether there are tinfoil hats under my bed however.
Lol always love the "holier than thou" take. Not like the entire European football system (and FIFA in general) is literally built on greed and exploitation of players.
Not as much as I love the "others are doing it too, therefore nobody should ever take a stand regardless how far and ********ed up things have gone" take. I'm talking about awareness, which I'm not surprised is lost on you.
Exactly this. I think you may have misunderstood my intention @YOUNGSTARS87 ; no one is looking to dump Vini, we are saying that we would be ok if he wanted to take the €1 billion and we got a world record €400m fee for that. (Which, believe it or not, will actually be really good for the club. Even though we are not taking out payday loans like Barca, we are far from the financial juggernaut we were in the 2000s - because oil state clubs have entered the picture).
At first I was ok with Martinez as the 3rd/4th CB option. But now after the ACL (which is crazy), I can't really see many supporters who aren't annoyed at the lack of a CB signing. There are so many games this season.
You don’t half talk a lot of bollocks and when anyone questions you, you talk down to them like they just don’t get it on the level that you do.
Doesn’t it make more sense to take these reports with a pinch of salt. The Real Madrid “board” is basically Florentino and JAS when it comes to squad planning and transfers. And just look at that Ancelotti interview to see how he regards them. Like a family. There are multiple reasons why we might not be going in for another centre back, the main one probably being the one we wanted just got sold for about £80 million, which is a little bit more than we were reasonably expecting to pay. We were unlucky Man United were so desperate, and his agent managed to convince him that sitting on the bench for a mid table premier league club was a better deal than coming to us. I think that reasoning makes more sense than the “board” are setting Carlo up to fail (by giving him the best squad in Europe?!) just so we can go and get another coach (but still not have a centre back in place), which we could do anyway.
