That's why he isn't going this season. Next season, assuming Mbappe does as well as we expect him to, then likely Rodrygo is going. Only way Rodrygo stays if he somehow (which I seriously doubt) makes the right wing his own and instead one of our midfielders is sold.
Selling Rodrygo at the rumored price 175ME would be a no brainer. The decision to buy Maple was made in such haste the club needs to stay on its toes with respect to the potential ramifications of that which include upsetting individual and collective team spirit. We know Rodrygo is a team player but there are others who are unknowns at this point as to how they will adapt and respond with Maple himself having a bit of a reputation for being a selfish spoil sport. If there's even and inkling of chance that Rodrygo will be a castaway in the Project Mappe '25 agenda and he could lose form then see his value declibe, THEN now is the time sell.
our club is an expert in managing these like scenarios - even before the club decide to sell Rodrygo it would build a narrative in the media without much collateral damage - at end no one would be disappointed with the transfer only thing that matters is the financial terms that match club expectations
We should keep Rodrygo...he will give us a lot of joy this season..I expect that with Mbappe in squad he will have more space on pitch and he knows to use that.
The Rodrygo rumors are clickbait as far as I am concerned. The right wing spot is his to lose right now at Madrid. If he goes to City, he would even have more competition. Does he want to back up Haaland? Or compete with Grealish/Doku on the left? Or compete with Foden/Savio/Bobby on the right?
So lose a star player to a direct rival, and then rely and two 18 year olds and a player that has never been a starter anywhere? Sounds like a solid plan for success.
I wouldn't sell Rodrygo just yet, but €175m? Wow. I'd leave it to the player. Because "let's be honest", City do play "the best football in Europe".
Well, we "know" they'll all be better for us than Rodry don't we, even though that's not proven and one of them hasn't even played a serious game for us as yet, it's not like Rodry has ever been an important player for us helping us to win trophies at any point he's just been a scrub playing out of position scoring 6 goals per season against minnows.
You guys must be joking? Rodrygo done amazing in RM, scored some rly important goals sacrificing so much so VJ can shine on that left side. Arda is amazing talent sure but few goals after we already won la liga dosnt make him superstar...Same thing with Brahim , hes good but not good enough to be a starter. Rodrygo is now one of the best players on the world, can play everywhere in attack and hes not that far off from VJ. Those two complement each other so good. The thing they lacked is natural striker and we will see how it will end up with Mbappe.Btw few games when he played on left wing he was manace for oposition. While with VJ managers forced him on that left side, Rodrygo played everywhere in attack so it will take longer for him to reach that peak. Only thing he lacks is consistency and that comes with experience. So now depends about Rodrygo, too reach his peak in Madrid and stay in shadow of Mbappe, Jude and VJ or he will chose to go lets say to City and become the main guy there...
Some fans are so quick to sell some of our players that I don’t really understand what they get out of watching the team for. What Rodrygo has done for us means more to me than the club getting some extra cash. I’m genuinely gutted when players leave, even when I understand they might be a bit “past it”. Ozil leaving still bothers me lol. I didn’t even Casemiro, Varane, Ramos etc to go and them leaving has actually worked out better for us.
Brahim was a starter in Milan and has had his best season with us. He's a very good "Unit B" type of player. Rodrygo, a star player? Maybe, but he's a very inconsistent star who might get frustrated if he becomes a bench option. As I always said, if Rodrygo agrees to stay despite getting fewer minutes, that would be great. But I wouldn't mind losing him. I prefer a 442 with Camavinga over a 433 with him anyway.
Rodrygo is a very good player, i dont worry a second when he's starting. I think it will be him that leaves, not the club that pushes him out. We've been through this a few times, but lets just see how next season develops and how players perform given the shake up in the positions up front.
Carlo has said that Jude's position will remain. This means that there is no room for Rodrygo unless we start using only two midfielders. In that case there is no room for Camavinga. It might be smart to have 12 players in our ideal starting lineup, becauce usually somebody is missing.

We don't have that much depth in midfield for 4-4-2 as Tcho will be 3rd CB until Alaba returns. Could happen in big games though. Otherwise, Modric will have to start more games than he did last season with Kroos gone. _________ Casemiro had already fulfilled his mission at Madrid When Case saw Tchou train for 2 days he already knew that his time had come at Madrid And he left in style, being Champion and leaving a lot of money, forcing United to pay Madrid or he wouldn't leave The Rodrygo issue is different because he still has to play his best 200 games with Madrid Casemiro ya cumplió su misión en el Madrid Cuando Case vió 2 días entrenar a Tchou ya sabía que su momento había llegado en el Madrid Y se fue a lo grande siendo Campeón y dejando un dineral obligando al United a pagárselo al Madrid o no salía El tema Rodrygo es diferente pq… https://t.co/jZyZ2LF3W1— RealSeasonNT (@RealSeasonNT1) August 9, 2024 Imo doesn't make sense for Rodrygo for to leave even if Pep calls him. Pep himself isn't commited to City beyond next season (contract ends in 2025) with 115 infractions verdict incoming.
