He's proven on the big stage that he is not good enough for Juve, Bayern or to start for Netherlands in Euros. RM hasn't signed slow defenders for our high line after Walter Samuel and Metzelder flopped.
Carpio: Yoro was unable to withstand the pressure from Lille Manchester United have snatched the promising French centre-back from Real Madrid thanks to an offer that was almost double the less than 30 million euros offered by Los Blancos. Lille threatened to keep the player out of action for a year if he did not sign with the 'Red Devils'. https://www.marca.com/futbol/real-madrid/2024/07/18/669826e8e2704e3a3d8b45b0.html
Surely that violates some kind of European Labour law? I'm surprised more haven't been sued if they blatantly threatened a player like this.
https://www.reuters.com/article/spo...leave-lazio-after-winning-case-idUSLDE5BM185/ Pandev won such a case, which is why it's an empty threat. Clubs know they can't freeze a player out.
I guess legally it will depend if you can prove your are left out for that reason. Club can throw in a start here and there and claim it is a technical decision. throw in a new purchase and they can use it to justify.
If a club can choose to get 30m or nothing, why would they choose nothing? Just to show strength to some kid?
I don’t think we make all our plans around a single player. You better believe there are several options the club has on hand. Very slim chance we don’t sign a CB
❗️Tchouaméni will be considered as a center-back for most of next season, not only in emergency situations. Leny Yoro not coming has an effect on him.— @relevo pic.twitter.com/WJnYnOtRol— Madrid Universal (@MadridUniversal) July 18, 2024 So no new CB apparently
There's no way anyone could know for sure that's what Madrid is going to do. I can make a tweet stating the opposite and it would hold the same value.

Don't think that's how the club sees it. I think they look at the market from what opportunities present themselves rather than need. We've needed a striker last year, desperately so, and they decided Joselu was enough. Same thing with continued interest in Davies, position of strength but the club is pursuing an opportunity to bring a player they value highly. I think we valued Yoro highly. However, all the players that have come here over the past few years (including Mbappe ultimately) have made sacrifices to come here and prove that they want to be at the club. I just don't think we're interested in getting into a bidding war; there is a value assigned to the player and if it's massively exceeded you walk away. I think they'll wait for the next opportunity to present itself. There are a lot of young promising CBs (maybe not as highly rated as Yoro) that are out there. We were previously interested in Robert Renan (complicated because of the sanctions against Russia), others like Lukeba, Jorrel Hato, as well as other talent that will come through in the Olympics. I actually believe we won't sign someone this summer unless it's a very favorable deal.
It’s hard to fill the bench for us man You need Madrid class players But those guys want to play and start so young players make sense but again, they have to be Madrid quality
Great points. It seems we have principle now of: 1. Not ever overpaying due to bidding wars etc...; and 2. The only way to do that is to sign players who only have eyes for Madrid.... Yoro's entourage and Lille probably pressured him greatly and he wasn't able to hold on. It seems like this will be a common theme of our transfer dealings going forward. No one has the Real Madrid pull....therefore the only way for clubs to have a chance to beat us is to overvalue players and bid absurd amounts. Very useful for players who are in it mostly for the money.
I wonder: JAS IS THR CEO of the club. Does Flo must approve each signing or it’s depend on Flo ? Flo is the president of Engineering company which is public company
The club made a mistake selling Rafa, and mistakes happen. I'm sure another option will appear sooner rather then later. Try to stay positive.
It's not only the fee but the player. People and media are really losing their minds on this one when they're actually suggesting Saliba and Schlottebeck.. two starters in good situatuons; to come be a third or fourth CB at Madrid. It literally doesn't make sense for us to spend so much on a player who will want to have a starting role when we have two of the best CBs in the world already. The right move was as you said earlier; keeping Rafa Marin. Even Yoro would have came here and sat on the bench another two seasons at least.
You cannot tell me that Ramos played on the veteran minimum for Sevilla would turn the same opportunity down to do so with Madrid, merely providing cover. At this point we're making up reasons to excuse mistakes. We got Joselu because we had our eyes set on Mbappe. Going into the season with what we currently have is begging for trouble.
