It's not that it's this or no one. It's that he had a lot great attributes like height, young, potential and French. He would've integrated effortlessly.

Shit I forgot, the club knows everything. If the club says its only this guy who is good enough and there is no one else on the planet, thats that, end of story. Why even bother thinking, whoever they sign or don't sign will be the perfect decision.

Nationality is irrelevant and many others also have the same great attributes.

We got all our French targets from Mendy, Camavinga, Tchouameni and even Mbappe eventually. Mendes and RM relationship has been bad since 2017 though.

I think J Mezzy meant it as a genuine compliment. He recently praised your knowledge of young prospects.

Wonder if Carlo rates Calafiori as he follows Serie A. But he'd have to do a Yoro to Arsenal and his pricetag is also 50 M. But won't be like overpaying for last year of contract like Hazard, Yoro.

I'll keep an eye on Pacho, I plan to watch a lot of Bundesliga this season, Frankfurt games haven't always been the most pleasant to watch. As I said, given the likely arrival of Xabi at some point here, Hincapié is an interesting player to me. I see upside there, just a matter of how high it goes and if he can reach it.

We've won LaLiga and La Decimoquinta with Joselu as our striker. And he scored two crucial goals for us in the semis.

We had Camavinga play left back, Tchou playing CB, Valverde playing everything... The point is our players play for the shirt and because we have such players I believe we'll be ok.

As others have pointed out, Militao was world class before his injury. I know he was horrible vs Villareal and bad overall since coming back, but let's give him some goodwill too. To early to call him finished.

With this being said, a potential Castilla promotion could be on the cards, or a late signing of a squad rotation player.

Ramos was good for Sevilla last season. But don't remember us bringing back a player who left in tense situation.

You guys need to stop using this foolish argument, it's making you ignore our weaknesses. We won La Liga/UCL with 2 injured CBs, we won La/UCL with no true striker, we won CL/UCL with Rodrygo playing RB, etc.

We get it, since we are an awesome team and our whole is greater than it's missing parts. But it doesn't mean we shouldn't fill our missing parts or try to strengthen our squad. All great teams continually try to improve not remain static.

Agreed. Hence why I said "With this being said, a potential Castilla promotion could be on the cards, or a late signing of a squad rotation player."

Doesn’t mean I shouldn't be optimistic as a fan either way.

Oh gtfo, you know it wasn't, you sarcastic fanny. :p you think the people who liked the post did it because they interpreted it as non-sarcastic?

Look, I'm not saying I know who the equivalent to Yoro is out there. I'm just saying that statistically speaking, there simply has to be one.;)

Ex. this kid from Sociedad looks like he might be that:

But I tend to be skeptical at defender comps because for defenders its not that much about their bag, but how frequently do they deviate from it (that is, make mistakes). And competition level is more emphasized. But if he has something like a 10 million clause or whatever, I'd pull the trigger and have him as the backup.

Rodrygo as RW is not a weakness for most top teams. He kills City so often. Now we have Guler and Brahim as left footed players. Had them last season too. It's like nitpicking for the sake of it.

Yeah it went well last season mostly because Jude stepped up and scored miracle goals, things could have been very different in the league without his tally.

Don't expect things to go the same everytime when we ride the luck train and hope for the best.

We have an extraordinarily long season ahead with +70 games.

Maybe it's just me, but Alaba is a non-factor, aside from being utterly sh!t after 21/22, he suffered ACL + complications, it's a severe set of injuries. Add his age into the mix and you've got a time bomb.

Militao will always worry me. The only consistent and reliable CB we have is Rudiger. That's troubling.

I don't consider Yoro going to Utd a RM failure. Not signing a CB by the end of August will be a failure imo.

We’re also talking about Joselu as if he started every game and we depended upon him. You can hide not having a world class #9 for one season by using a different formation full of world class players.

How do you hide not having a cb? There is no formation to cover that up

Just to reiterate, it’s not panic stations yet. I’m sure the club will find an alternative

2021-22 CB depth was Alaba, Militao, Nacho and Vallejo.

As it stands, our CB depth is Rudiger, Militao, Alaba and Vallejo. I presume Tchouameni will play CB if Vallejo is the other choice.

Vallejo is made of glass man. Are we really going to count on him after dumping him about a million times until now?

He's also very bad. I guess Tchouameni will play CB ahead of him if needed with Camavinga as DM.

Unless we make a move for Calafiori or another young prospect, this is the realistic scenario.

Don't underestimate the control other people have over these players. Watching The Overlap on YouTube, plenty there was one with Ince which where he basically said where he went next was dictated by the manager and his agent. Yoro had his agents and family in his ear, probably telling him something quite sensible along the lines of Lille won't accept Real Madrid's offer and how much of a risk it is going into the final year of your contract without a sure up move. Probably then mentioned his age and the fact the opportunity may appear again down the line.

Agent plays a key role when you are that young and can be influenced. Mendes took Felix to Atlético once they had Griezmann cash.

Camavinga signing with his agent who's pretty old and friends with Florentino was seen as a move to make RM deal happen. Turned out that way.
