I should have considered Mendes factor and why we let go every client of his. Maybe Lunin soon..Dude took Pepe to Turkey after fighting RM to abolish 1 year contract renewal policy. Ramos tried the same few years later.
There is nothing to consider. If Yoro wanted only us he would be a Madrid player period. If Florentino really wanted Yoro we wouldn't have offered €20M.
Exactly. If Modric or Camavinga flirted with interested clubs, both would have gone for initial asking price of 60 M. Glad they were patient during negotiations rejecting PSG, Utd and Chelsea. Yoro wouldn't do that with Mendes as his agent so we move on.
20+10 ME was starting offer. We'd have eventually gone till 40 M (add ons included) maybe deep into August. Camavinga came for 30 ME so one can imagine the starting offer.
Preach brother; they think I'm crazy when I mention the same thing. Florentino has always had a fetish for attackers and is allergic to defenders. This will never change. At RM we consider our defense to be excellent as long as it's 'good enough' - never the other way around.
Both Hincapie and Pacho can play LB, but its not their best position, more of a versatility option which we could use obviouslyy. But for Ecuador Pacho plays as a fullback more often.
Stick to one thing man. After moaning we are ignoring attack when Alaba and Rudiger were signed. Now It's fetish for attackers only.
An opening bid of €20-25m to initiate negotiations is normal. If Flo didn't want Yoro, he wouldn't have sold Rafa Marin.
I accept. Because that was the precedent with Courtois, Camavinga etc. You insisted Courtois was just using us for more money from Chelsea for example. He said RM or nothing even after we sold Ronaldo.
I may have complained, but Florentino has always had a fetish for the attacking side more than the defensive side of the game. Hence why he sold Makelele, then learned from that but it's still an innate trait that he will never give up. And a management we should be enforcing all areas with seriousness, not just stronger attackers and mediocre/Bosman CBs.
Yea. They sold Marin because Yoro said yes. If this had happened in June we'd replace Nacho with Marin. Even Mbappe U turn in 2022 didn't put us in a situation like this.
I don’t agree with that to some extent. Yes Flo likes his attackers, who doesn’t? But he also learned his lesson and has made sure the team is balanced out in the defensive area of the midfield (Casemiro, Camavinga and Tchouameni) and defence in recent years.
Again, we'd be run like Chelsea if management had your prejudice. Rudiger is a bosman CB and the best defender in the world right now. "Mediocre" CBs Militao and Alaba are starters for CL winning squad couple of years ago. ACL at 25 doesn't end Militao's career. Especially when people don't bring that up for Wirtz who came back slowly and back to his best. Militao looked the part in Copa America.
Tchouameni was very good at CB. But like Camavinga as LB, he's repeatedly said in public that it's not a position he prefers and did it last season due to injury situation.
I don’t know the thoughts of the Brazilian fans on here but I read Militao was one of the positives for Brazil in Copa.
I saw all their games. He was quick and physical like pre-ACL Militao. I'd say he's 90% there already.
Militao is world class people here act as if he wasn't our best defender before the acl. He's young and will be back to his level I don't get the worry. I wish we didn't lose Nacho but I'm glad the club doesn't overpay for a young player in his last year of the contract. Let him waste his years in United.
But those were good additions at the time, not must haves. Yoro would've been a brilliant signing as he would keep Militao on his toes/focused while allowing us to have 3 good CBs. We should've been smarter and we don't always have to play hardball all the time.
I am happy for Nacho. But this happening after Marin deal really makes things complicated. I think there's no buyback clause for Gila. Only 50% of future sale and option to match highest bid.
Just target another defender ffs. I will never understand why for us its always "this guy or no one". There is so much talent out there.
So you expect the club to pay 60+10 ME for an 18-yo CB in the last year of his contract? Quite steep for what is essentially a back up CB. The writing was on the wall once that bid was submitted. The player made a decision for himself, good luck to him, we move on. It’s not the end of the world. We’ve done well without Mbappe, we’ll be fine without Yoro. We have close to 2 months to figure things out.
