I highly doubt it. Inter would basically be giving up competing this year if they sold Bastoni.

It is what it is. Shuffle feet long enough and things can happen. Ligue 1 teams are in a financial crisis right now, Yoro could've thought about doing Lille dirty and rejecting all offers but he's also only 18, he might still think a Madrid move could happen in the future so he could still get what he wants (if playing for Madrid is that) if everything goes well.

Gonna be deeply curious what the plan is now. Pérez actively decided against bringing in a CB in January when our only options were Nacho and Rüdiger with Tchou as a makeshift CB. It was an audacious, ill-advised gamble that he got away with, and even then it was only for half the season. There's a full season ahead of us now and the only difference is switching out Nacho for Militão. Whether we like the comparisons to the past or not, we have evidence in 2024 of Pérez being somewhat negligent about the center back position...we're gonna have to actually see something here to believe it whether that position gets properly addressed now in the next six weeks.

We will not always be able to get them for free :ROFLMAO: I think the club did the right thing: either we get him for the right price or we wait for him to be a free agent. If he is picked up by another team so be it.

I am just not sure this is the right move for the player himself. It could be saying a lot about his priorities, so won’t be losing any sleep over him.

GL to Yoro in Man United, i hope the money he gets there will be enough to cover the fact that his in that graveyard.

I'm not sure but the difference in what we offered compared to what they offered can be seen as a lack of trust and commitment to the player. I thought that yesterday, their offer was 3 times as large as ours.

Just the reported offers - which I've seen from three different places now - sounded so bizarre. I understand, "market opportunity" with one year left on his deal so Lille's leverage was compromised a bit, but this is the same club where Pérez is known for being generous enough in negotiations if it means being able to have good club relations in the event of future business. Some story about Varane's old club once coming to the club to ask about a potential CL-winning bonus in the fee even though that clause would've expired by then but still being paid anyway or whatever. So the idea of lowballing Lille with an insulting ~€20-25M area fee for someone quoted in the €40-50M range at a minimum just so out of character, but strange things happen sometimes I guess.

It doesn't sound to me like we were all in. At least that's how the player side could have interpreted it.

It's whatever. We can't sign them all. It is what it is.

    Let's go for Calafiori.

On Yoro; why would he go to ManUre over wait for us? Sometimes we wait too long thinking our prestige is enough to make players reject all other offers.

This was our perfect chance to integrate a young CB - a regen of Saliba. Now we're stuck with the Austrian leech and Militao.

Not surprised at all, Mendes being involved said it all.

What do you mean it is what it is - the player was almost begging to come to Madrid. All we did was ride the wave of 'our prestige' and offer him peanuts compared to what ManUre offered him.

Mendes controls nothing. If a player we have any interest in with a year remaining on his contract is determined to come to Madrid he would (will) end up there.

It's weird when people make Jorge Mendes to be this monster under our bed when he literally gets kickbacks from helping negotiate other transfers of players to Madrid.

Man U guaranteed Yoro that he'd be a starting player from Day 1. That was the clincher.

Unless something significantly changes, united are still in shambles and best case scenario need a lot of work. Not the best decision for a growing 18 year old defender.

I hate our strategy when it comes to recruiting defenders; we always put them last on our priority list compared to all other areas.

Not sure if the club still has nightmares from signing Woodgate or Walter Samuel, but we need to stop treating defenders like they're non-essential to our team's dominance and well-being.

This would be a genuinely suicidal approach. It was audacious and dangerous in January trying to make it through the 2nd half of the season that way, trying to then do it across an entire season is beyond reckless. I don't want to believe this but that Militão is the last CB transfer we've made (Alaba and Rudi were free's) would lend credence to this exact possibility.

Like, if nothing else, if you weren't gonna go all-out for Yoro and leave open the possibility of him signing elsewhere, then you sold Marin for...what reason? Nacho already walked and you actively chose to move another CB out of the club with zero plans to replace them? That would be insane squad planning if so.

No one said he's a monster, history shows his clients have been moved out and we haven't had one of his players since. Lunin is the only one I can think of, also a recent player under his management, again with rumors of him leaving the moment he signed with him.

Love how quickly we move from "we have alternatives" to "we will sign no one, X player will play out of position to cover". Never fails.

Until he too gets hurt or Camavinga is suspended or, or, or......

I hope the club has someone from Castilla in mind that can cover the position or another position so we can shuffle first team players around.
