It goes a bit deeper than that, remember when we were removed from the ECA with the Superleague fiasco, he was voted the Chairman.

We should have bidded for Zubimendi if we really needed that position.

Board thinks the current midfielders can ball , it is a huge question mark especially with the game Alonso wants to play.

Nah that’s for sure a terrible idea. His ceiling today is not what it was, let alone being good enough to start for us.

    They can't.

We used to play out of the back in our own box and now the midfield has trouble getting the ball to a front three.

You may be right. But he's more of an "organiser" type than any of our starting mids right now I think.

Not nearly. Also, not only is he obviously not good enough to start for us, stylistically he isn’t at all what we need in midfield right now so I disagree.

Also coming from you I might take that as a compliment as you’re the king of wild idea’s my man :ROFLMAO:!

His tendencies and type of midfield play. The links to Stiller and Zubimendi have made sense because we’ve like that style of player in midfield.

At least our pre-season [CWC] will allow us to better identify needed areas of reinforcing.

If you ask me we need still a midfielder and left back.Lets not forget we lose Modric after CWC and Bellingham is going to surgery and is going to be out for 3 months...despite moving Guler to CM I still think we need another midfielder...I was never amazed by Ceballos...good for rotation but for nothing more...Bringing Paz could be cheap solution for all that because Im sure he can cover also CM position even though he is more attacking oriantated...aside from Paz getting Theo Hernandez as a experienced LB would be what I prefer...on CB I trust Huijsen,Rudiger ans Asencio even though Asencio has a bad opening of the season...Militao is I guess out for most of the season so we stay on Alaba who will probably stay and run out his contract

Why not instead of buying AM's to play CM we actually buy a CM lol.

    I still feel we're short on CB's.

Alaba is done and I hope Militao still has something to give.

What are everyone's thoughts on Konate? With his contract expiring next summer, Liverpool is either going to sell this summer or he may leave on a free in 2026. Could he be a serious target for us?

26 year old French international that could be had on a discount. I prefer Saliba, but Konate is likely a more viable market opportunity.

The club also has to consider their willingness to try the likes of Joan Martinez, Jacobo Ramon, Diego Aguado.

It just feels like there is a lot of uncertainty at the position beyond Huijsen, even if there are many options on the roster.

Konate situation seems different from Trent. Sounds like Konate is happy to stay if they meet his wage demands.

I have a sneaky feeling we've already approached him and he's on our radar given the contract situation. Liverpool must be worried we'll pull the same thing we did with Trent so I think if we pursue him this summer they will sell...

That being said, I'd rather drop 90m on Saliba than 50m on Konate....even if Konate is a good player ... worried about his injury record though.

Same. I would rather pay the big bucks for the better and more reliable player.

IF Rodrygo leaves, Real Madrid would want €90M for the player.

    Arsenal’s interest is REAL. @SERDeportivos

IF a big player leaves, that would allow Real Madrid to sign a midfielder that Xabi Alonso wants. @carrusel

Rodyrgo not being played last time points to a possible sale imo.

Very good defender, excellent with the ball on his feet, good pace, but gets injured too often. Would be on top of my list tbh. Should see if there is a deal this summer given the Trent situation.

He is extremely good. He is up there among the best in the world discussion.

Konates is probably the best channel defender in the world. He dominates any ball played in channel with his speed, physique and reading. He is also very front footed which would compliment Dean very well.

Very good aerially and extremely strong against dribblers. We saw how he was able to go toe to toe against Vinicius.

I don't rate his on the ball skill that much , better than Rudiger on the ball but worse than Asencio if you needed a scale.

Absolutely, will be a great buy if we can pull it off. I doubt if we can do it though.

I reckon Pool mighty sell for 50 ME this summer if they sense he's unlikely to renew. The Guardian says renewal talks will resume this summer itself. I feel it's a matter of Konate wanting the money from Pool than a desire to move like Trent had.
