That's nice, but has he really proved that he can be better than Rodrygo, or even as good as him right now?

That's what's kind of strange about this discussion, it's all hope, no real substance. Show me one game where he was the best player on the field. When you pay this much for a 17 year old talent, i feel like he needs to have some kind of can't miss characteristic.

Either have natural on ball ability, traits far beyond his age like Bellingham, or be an absolute animal physically.

I feel like he joined us way too early, and could potentially flame out and plateu on the sideline. I wish we'd send him somewhere to play and show what he's about good or bad.

He normally has us advancing in CLs with his clutch goals but honestly the discussion has now been dragged forever. I hope he stays and continues to be helpful.

Ditto, but he sees space very well and his movement in behind the defensive line is also really good. Reminds me of Mariano in his movement tbh, he isn’t about the buildup at all, he just wants a goal.

He has a lot to add to his game though, mainly mentally, but that should improve with time.
At the moment he doesn’t look like anything more than a player you bring on in the last ten minutes when you are down a goal and have to throw the kitchen sink at the opponent.

Yea. His off the ball movement is fine. He has 7 goals in 830 odd minutes with RM. Failed to finish off 1v1 chances vs Lille and in another La Liga game he started towards end of the season. A good chunk of his Palmeiras goals were that of a poacher.

I don't necessarily disagree with @4x4s here but I think you are applying a logic that is not really relevant anymore.

We buy young players at a high price while being kind of unproven because if they prove themselves on any team in Europe the price will be crazy (look at Wirtz for example). So no it doesn't necessarily mean that if we give high prices for a young player he's going to be the best on the field. Vini was the exception not the norm.

That's fine and all, but why the hell do we not do loans at all anymore? Inbound or outbound. It's super weird we're not utilizing that.

I think selling/rebuying is a better way to game the FFP measures.

As a sub? What makes you think he will accept a secondary role?

Have you not seen the pictures of Xabi caressing his head and speaking dulcet tones? Next thing you know these guys will be happy to be around to change the light bulbs and do kit duty, simply to bask in the warmth of the Basque's greatness.

Jokes aside, Rodrygo needs to put his foot on the gas and attract transfer interest for the sake of furthering his own career. Like Higuain did.

Nobody said he doesnt have any weaknesses or limitations, but for a striker hes got some pretty important attributes. I think he was overeager and nervous last season, he knew that he had limited minutes so he felt too much pressure to impress and it backfired often, but he did show glimpses of his ability and Im looking forward to his second season here under a different coach.

I wouldn't be surprised if Endrick and Estevão ended up playing for Flamengo by 2027.

Almost every game Endrick played last season was exciting. While he might not win the Ballon d'Or, based on what we saw from him, he has the potential to become a top player for any elite European club. He might not become a Real Madrid great, but he also has the talent to shine at teams like Arsenal, Juventus, Inter Milan, etc.

All good, but at the pricetag and overall cost of the operation, he needs some proof of concept somehow.

Also let's be honest, not even guy we sign on a punt like that is going to hit like Vinicius did. Some are just going to be average to good players at the level. When we signed the kid he was primed as a surefire future GREAT and i don't see that potential anywhere.

At Endrick's age Joao Felix had a career season that catapulted him and his market value to new heights, and before anybody tells me he's a bust, remember we offered a huge price for that guy back then, with Atleti simply offering more.

Positionally, Endrick is the biggest headache for me, because he's simply too small to be a potent CF in a game that's growing every year. He should arguaby be a winger, and even there he's relatively small. The last great CF of his size was Aguero, a player whos ability in tight spaces and quick processing and smarts jumped off the page immediately.

There's also the possibility his talent is overhyped and he will end up in a secondary market or back in Brazil. I guess we agree on this one.

I see Endrick as a Michael Owen in the future (with more power than finesse) rather than Aguero. Of course it was a massive price tag, but its just still too early to judge. Moving from Brazil to Madrid was always going to make the first season a wash tbh.

Of course, not every talented kid becomes a star. But nothing he did last season gave me any reason to lose confidence in him. Besides, I said that he might be a star with Arsenal, Juventus, Inter Milan, etc. I just do not believe that he will end up in Brazil two seasons from now.

Jesus, Owen was sensational at Endrick's age. Talk about mismatch.

I don't think he's going to end up a crock or an issue, but back when we signed him people were losing their mind we'd miss out of a generational guy.

I watched a Nani goal and I couldn't shake how much the Endrick signing reminds me of how often or not going back to the well works for teams.

I don't say it because I support Palmeiras, but Endrick made a mistake (ignoring the money part) by going to Real Madrid so early. We are stacked. He won't get minutes (Xabi can say whatever he wants, he won't drop Mbappe and Vini).

I understand he wants to make money for his family. He does seem like a good kid raised by a good Christian family. But he would have acquired legendary status quickly in Brazil. While still making lots of money.

Gues you just can't say no to Europe, and especially Real Madrid.

Owen was sensational as a teenager in his own country, footballing culture, style of play... just as Endrick was in his. Can you imagine if you throw a 18 year old Owen in Brazil how that would go? Endrick could still become successful like him when he adapts to Europe/Spain. Not sure thats generational but its pretty good and that would be enough for me.

While I disagree with your overall stance regarding Endrick, I do agree with this. Kun was a spectacular talent that immediately caught the eye in his mid-teens. He was quick, agile, skilful, exceptional on the dribble, had a good eye for the goal, etc. And all of those, he had either at elite level or fairly close to it. An incredible and rare talent at the time. I remember we were linked with him and being very disappointed that we didn't get him instead of Atleti.

Alvarez is shorter than Endrick and he's been praised for scoring 17 league goals in his debut season with Atleti at the age of 25. And Mbappe doesn't head the ball or hold up particularly better than 5"7 Alvarez.

Height doesn't matter if Endrick ends up being a striker who can score 20+ league goals per season. He might not get an opportunity at RM because of Mbappe's age just like Hakimi couldn't due to Carva being his competition. But pretty certain he will make it at top level.
