Don’t think we can ignore the elephant in the room. How about “Real Madrid Wins Again Thanks to Franco - The Franco Mastantuono Thread”?
I'm not even sure he'll be ready in two or three years. Arda has been here a while and he isn't even a starter. Maybe I could be wrong.
63m for Franco? Sure? Hopefully he’s worth it. I’m of the mind that the RW market is very thin and 63m wouldn’t get much there with established available names. I trust in the scouting dept, but do we really need another 18 year old?
It seems it's only Madrid transfers where people add in the taxes and make that the total instead of just the transfer fee itself.
It's a lot of money. I haven't seen the kid play except an occasional highlight reel over the last year. I'm excited we have a lef footed option on the right wing. He does posess raw talent, so it'll be interesting to see if he can contribute right away or not.
Cool I guess. I've seen so many "wonderkids" bust over the last 20 years or so that I can't get hype anymore. Too many variables at that age. I don't really care tbh until they're on the first team, hopefully he'll contribute but I wouldn't expect much this season. Not sure what it means for Guler.
Yeah, he's got a lot of good attributes, but swimming in a pool and swimming in shark infested waters is vastly different.
Stiller rumours have cooled down. Not to mention it was started by JFD with couple of articles and he's been missing left and right this summer. Nothing from Ramon Alvarez on Stiller, Zubi etc who's been reliable this summer. Feel Rodrygo stays and Carreras will be our final big money signing this summer. 4-3-3 likely formation with Rodrygo starting, Franco as back up and Arda getting Modric minutes in midfield.
Impossible to say really -- first, it depends on how well they follow Xabi's tactical instructions, particularly defending from the front. Second, Xabi has said in press conferences he intends to be flexible in his approach. Third, he used several different formations for Leverkeusen last season. Finally, if he's a disciple of Pep, no formation is rigid in game like it looks on paper, it's all about overloading optimal areas of the pitch at the right time.
Raphinha used to score less than Rodrygo before Flick. Let's see how Rodrygo does under Xabi. Rodrygo certainly has a different level of motivation in CL nights. His CL debut was with a hat-trick. Quite a few key knockout goals as well.
Real Madrid’s summer is still ONGOING. They are looking at the market for opportunities. @FabrizioRomano 1933632980427419976 is not a valid tweet id Sounds like no concerete names and a possible signing if there's a market opportunity like Arda in 2023.
There needs to be exits first. They have 24 players on the books for next year. And JFD has been full of BS this summer.
1933641556415713789 is not a valid tweet id Rui Costa, president of Benfica: "We did not reach any agreement with Real Madrid for Carreras. There were proposals that were not to our liking: not for Álvaro nor for any player.“ Sounds like it’s not particularly close yet to sign Carreras. Also sounds like it’s release clause or nothing
50 million for a youth product, a full back, and an unproven player. Yeah count me in the opposition camp on this one. We can do better.
I don't understand why we are "do or die" for Carreras. What just because he is Spanish? If Benfica want so insane sum why not use it on a better player? If we want to save money why not go after Hato or something?
Hope this doesn't set a bad precedent for our academy players. Carreras left RM tempted by Man Utd offer, move didn't workout and we are welcoming him with open arms for 50 ME after a good year with Benfica. Barca did that with Pique and Cesc, but both were generational talents. Carreras did it to Deportivo as well for RM so there's that.
Again, I have a bad feeling that in order to convince Xabi the had to move quick and as soon as he signed we went back on our bullshit signing players that will be relevant in 4 years and missing on key squad issues.
