Would those top-midfielders be ok with being bench players? More importantly does Xabi see these guys as being apart of his plans? I don't even think about Ceballos as someone who can contribute anymore. Way to inconsistent.
He's sticking with Modric but also asking for a new midfielder. Xabi couldn't dribble, run or jump and it might be he doesn't see a place for guys like Jude, Fed, Tchou or Camavinga - he wants MF's who can pass the ball.

Not sure how I feel about Carreras. He doesn't feel like someone who'll be here for the next 10 years. But anyone who can bench Mendy is good in my book. I'm assuming Fran is done for here.
No, we need 2 players in every position. Fran/Carreras. Mendy is done; I respect his professionalism but honestly I'm surprised he lasted this long. He plays like has 2 left feet.
We have manager who uses a 5 defender with wingbacks system. Fran just became indespensible to the project, it's Jude, Fed and Camavinga who should be worried. Holding midfielders are the new Kool kids.
This would depend on what system Xabi implements. Mendy could be deployed as a LCB in a 5 man backline. I wouldnt worry about it that much since he's always out with an injury.
Real Madrid are thinking about bringing back Nico Paz BEFORE the FIFA Club World Cup. @COPE 1924236814128415009 is not a valid tweet id Álvaro Carreras is close to being Real Madrid’s next signing. @COPE⏳⚪️ 1924236814128415009 is not a valid tweet id AS also had an article about RM considering bringing Paz back. https://as.com/futbol/primera/nico-paz-opcion-viva-n/
Flo fully prepared to derail multiple careers for a slightly better chance of winning the CWC and he won't even remember these guys names a year from now.
for many reasons that will be too hard to get into a ton of detail, I really don’t think a 5-3-2 is the best formation for us for next season.
Surprisingly it was never officially announced. Given his age, low footballing IQ and fragile physical state I'm hoping the club releases him somehow.
Carreras to me feels like a JAS signing, if he arrives I'll be happy. Xabi will get the best out of him.
I checked some clips on him, like this one. Not sure what to think as highlights mean ******** all, but he looks like a solid player.
It might be that Xabi sees Guler, Ceballos and Brahim as the midfield generals with Modric an option off the bench while Jude, Cama and Fed are deemed as too clumsy with ball and not accurate enough with their passing. Would really suck to bring Klopp in a couple of years after selling off three of the worlds best box 2 box midfielders
He was also in the academy at the same time as Miguel. I don't know why he left while Miguel stayed for a few more seasons. I did not check if they played on the same squad. It actually did not matter as players developed differently. A few days ago, i said that Miguel is probably overrated (being named La Liga Team of the Year last year), but he is probably worth a gamble because the other alternatives were Mendy and Fran Garcia. Miguel is still on the La Liga Team of the Year and had a buyback clause which made him a bargain. Now, if the club is looking at Carreras instead of Miguel, he must be rated higher than Miguel who is available. And someone in the club should know both him and Miguel as a player and a person.
I think Miguel is exceptional on the ball, but whenever I see him do defensive work, I am underwhelmed. Perhaps the club feels Carreras is a more complete LB? He's reasonably fast, tall, strong, defensively aggressive and decent on the ball. I don't know – if it was possible, I'd bring both of them, but Mendy's new contract makes that difficult.
Miguel's defensive metrics are awful to be honest. Just not interested in defensive contribution a lot of times plus getting pushed over easily, poor tackler and losing concentration.
Yeah, Fran is much better defensively than Miguel. also, Miguel takes free kicks when Viktor Tsygankov and David López isn't playing. Fran: Miguel: Fran: Miguel:
I'm not sure what role Paz gets in the first team next year, finances aside, we need someone like Stiller more.
Surprised to hear that Victor Munoz was told to pack his bags/has no future at 19 while playing at Barca. We got him after he made an attempt to salvage his career at Dammm, the Athletic posted an interesting article about the young players. Apparently all of the guys that debuted have MULTIPLE offers in the first division and it sounds like the club is urging them to take the opportunity.
