Its a bold statement that he will age poorly because we haven't seen indications of it. Davies also you can argue has a poor attitude, but for me wide backs are actually the only exception when it comes to buying based on fit/strategy vs individual quality. For the wide backs position you just look at the quality imo. And Theo for me is just top quality. An incredible weapon to have, creates so many goals and chances for Milan, was crucial for their league title couple of years ago. He may not be a perfect character, but its hard for me to accept this as criteria while accepting Vinicius.

    Wesley Fofana(6m more in bonuses)

    Harry Maguire

You also can add here Joško Gvardiol that his cost with the bonuses will get to 100m+, Leny Yoro that his fee with bonuses will get to 70m(with him left one year the contract to end) and Lisandro Martínez that his fee with bonuses will get the price almost 70m.
but yeah, RM are overspending when they pay 58m for a CB.

The older you get, the more important your work ethic will be because speed goes away and your need to work harder to maintain an edge and develop new parts of your game. If you can’t even make yourself do that at a club like Milan, you’ll never do it here. Let’s not forget he left the first time around because he couldn’t handle the pressure.

But he can make himself do it clearly, since he is a top 5 leftback on the planet that won titles and contributes consistently. Why should we punish him for something that happened 10 years when he was a kid? The price vs ability ratio is crazy favorable in this case, it would be a shame if we don't exploit it just because of some media narratives or reputations.

Either way I would like a double reinforcement at LB with both Fran and Mendy leaving, so Miguel Gutierez and Theo would be my pair of signings. Miguel would be a great guy to take over the spot from Theo in a few years and in the meantime cover for him. I find it strange that people are indifferent to the prospect of having TAA and Theo as wingbacks. Probably the best RB + LB combo in the world.

Because the pattern is still there. He has been benched multiple times this season alone by two different coaches for poor work ethic. When you invest money in a player at his age (in his prime heading towards a decline), his work ethic needs to be unquestionable.

Theo is 27, barely two years older than Trent. Saying hes heading to a decline is exactly the media reputation narrative at work.

Personally as a follower of the Serie A, I haven't seen poor work ethic from him, but if there was indeed some decrease that the Milan managers noticed (and they benched him for that and not rotation), it can surely be attributed to Theo's wish to leave and reduce his price for buyers. This happens all the time in sports. If his work ethic was perfect it would be because he wanted to stay and not tank his price.

But a lot of this business is just media trends, so I can imagine Theo is seeen as some kind of yesterday's news, not as exciting as new kids, so he probably isn't good enough. Hope the club sees through this fog, not for this case but others too.

If his intention is to reduce his price, he’s certainly done very well. So much so that it’s going to be so cheap that it’s not prestigious enough of a signing for a lot of the big clubs.

We’ve seen these signs with players checking out for extended periods of time, with questionable commitment to their current employers and theyb just crash and burn (don’t need to go too far back, just look at Hazard).

Getting benched for poor work ethic. Reminds me of Marcelo 2018-19 who was mailing it in and got benched for Reguilon by Solari. And he never recovered the motivation despite ZZ returning and competition from Mendy for starting spot.

Who do you think is going to go in for Theo this summer? If he doesn’t lack work ethic, and no longer has mental fragility problems and is a top five best in the world in his position, AND is up for grabs for a reasonable price, he’s going to be flying off the shelf then right?

    There’s no fog broski.

If the club can get Theo they should quit b.s.'ing and pull the trigger. It's a no brainer.

We need a LB unless we are using wingbacks, in which case Fran instantly improves enough to be starting quality. Theo would still be better, it's a no brainer.

I'm not sold on Carrasco but it looks like he will get his chance.

What I am concerned about is it seems like the club is rushing into a couple of defense transfers on players and heavily committing to wingbacks or non-defending fullbacks, but what happens if Militao and Alaba don't come back and we can't play a 3CB system or what happens when we have another manager in 2 years that doesn't use wingbacks and we have to go out and spend 150ME on fb's who can actually defend.

First of all would be good to get his name right. Second, you’re talking about not getting a LWB and recommending Theo at the same time. The people advocating for Theo seem to have not watched him much.

Haven’t watched Carreras but his defensive metrics are very good for a FB.

Will state the obvious. PSG won't sell any valuable player to RM. In fact, there is no history of them selling a valuable player to any club in QSG era let alone to RM after Mbappe left for free. Vitinha renewed until 2029 recently.

Saw Barca fans saying Carreras did well against Yamal in both games he played this season. Coentrao was brilliant against Robben in 2013-14 CL. I won't mind if Carreras turns out to be a non chain smoking version of Coentrao who's durable.

Because I don't think i'de ever heard of the guy until this week and he's a former Castilla player.

You can't tell me there's no risk in this transfer, I can't even label him with the 1 season wonder tag because he doesn't even have that.

If Carreras is like a healthier version of Coentrao then snap him up immediately.

Maybe you and I haven’t but the club seems to have and they have inside info given he played in the youth team. Every transfer have varying degrees of risk, but I’d rather take it on a young 22 year old with good underlying stats then a 27 year old with poor habits and declining performance.
