Two things. First, Carreras is a poor man's Theo. From what I have seen hes not in the same league offensively, and hes not some kind of defensive specialist either. With Theo nearing the end of his contract, looking to leave and at the perfect prime age, now is the time to prevent another Hakimi story and bring him back for a redemption run. And second, if nobody gonna say it, I will. Angelo Stiller is too ugly to play for Real Madrid. There
Man I hate to say it but I agree with @Hendrix22. There's no way Florentino is letting this guy in the team picture. Personally I don't care about looks but if Florentino chose Beckham over Ronaldinho due to this exact reason. If not for that Becks was going to Barca and Dinho to ManU.
There is this desire for hopeful nostalgia when it comes to Modric. Of course we all wish him to roll back the clock and turn in one of those performances where he was the best MF in the world. But that’s not realistic nor going to happen. Actual nostalgia is the Legends Match; where he belongs. He can team back up with Marcelo, Kroos and whomever and be remembered that way.
RM got rid of Theo due to personality issues. Theo himself said Maldini told him in their first meeting that he'd waste his potential if he doesn't change his ways after a poor loan spell at Real Sociedad. JFD, Moretto said in last couple of days that Theo offered himself to RM, but club not interested. Guess that dumb red card which got Milan eliminated from CL didn't help in charging club's opinion that he's immature.
Didnt he do exactly that then, thus proving himself? And I doubt that a 21 year old is more mature than a 27 year old world champion. Red cards happen, there is no doubt for me that Theo is a worldclass leftback in the Davies class. Cant name 5 better leftbacks in the world. Its a major opportunity imo.
Dani, Fede, Thibo, David, Kylian, Eder: " Are we a joke to you?" Unless you define a 'veteran' as an over the hill nearing retirement player, then just takout Fede, Kylian and Eder. But as the general consesus goes, those qualify as vets with extensive experience and mileage under their names.
Everybody's clout took a step back the day Mbappe was signed. Carvajal hasn't played in months and he's surely going to lose his place to TAA. The team just played two seasons without major contributions from either Alaba or Militao, not sure what kind of weight they will carry in the lockeroom. For me it has to be Fed and Vini, they have seniority but also lots of time left on their contracts and their status is more less untouchable at this point.
I read the thoughts on Carreras in some other places and they don't feel he is defensively stout. In fact Manchester fans say that is why they didn't retain him. Then we have Kerkez who some of the same EPL fanbases think is the next monster Regarding this Stiller comment, I believe you said something similar regarding Modric and he has been the most successful midfielder in Madrid's history. That bodes well for Stiller
Any LB is an upgrade over Fran/Mendy. I’d prefer Theo, but if he’s a head case I’ll settle for one of the other names being thrown out. Haven’t seen either play so just have believe that whoever they get is the better option.
Getting Theo back should be an opportunity we pounce on. Just like @Hendrix22 said, he's top 5 LBs in the world. That is if there's any truth to the rumour.
I'm more concerned about Modrić staying. While it won't tarnish his legacy in the long run, I expect the forum to be filled with harsh comments next season—just like what happened with Marcelo. I really disliked seeing that. Sometimes, it's best to know when to step away from the spotlight.
You make it seem like Modric was a David Beckham regen. I don't think we care about looks when it comes to ability. Beckham was bought simply for his marketing power.
The problem is he wants to prepare for the 2026 World Cup. He's never struck me as the type to walk away like Kroos and ZZ. If anything, him complaining about being benched a few seasons ago was a sign to me he wouldn't leave voluntarily.
He didn't choose Beckham over Ronaldinho because of his looks. At the time, one was the most marketable football player and one of the most famous people on the planet. The other wasn't, regardless of their looks.
Lol red cards happen. That red card could easily cost him huge carreer wise lol. He has always seemed to be a mental midget.
I have rarely seen Carreras play, but I'm not sure I'd trust the United fanbase all too much. They are currently in a denial phase. He may also have developed his defensive game a lot since joining Benfica, who knows. Do you know how people following the Portuguese league see him? Having said that, I don't know enough about this player. Let's see. I do know Kerkez, he was very good at AZ and you could already see he had promise. But I reckon he'd cost a lot of money for a fullback. I'm not sure the club considers that a good investment, considering they need to revamp some other positions as well.
We need players who can play smart and with soft feet in order to escape from opponent pressing. That's how most of our dangerous offensive plays are going to occur. Carreras is way better with ball and in decision making than Theo. Theo can run and shoot.
Ah, yes. The fanbase that called Højlund the next Haaland can also be described as Anglophiles who glorify any player just because he plays in the Premier League, while at the same time labeling other players as second-rate simply because they don't. I wouldn't take their claims seriously.
1. Manchester United had a deal with Barcelona for Beckham that we intercepted. 2. Ronaldinho wasn't "not signed because he was ugly", the Dinho to barca deal was facilitated with Nike when Sandro Rossell was working for Nike's football department, had a close personal relationship with him, and Brazil was a huge promotional player in the game. Rossell made Ronaldinho a very rich man with Nike already, him going to Barca was practically predetermined. The truth is the sport is moved by relationships and the money that keeps them going.
