Stiller looks exactly the kind of midfieldr this team lacks,he plays as a 6 or 8 and occupy the same space as Kroos did from what im seeing in these videos.Very good on the ball, good passes and looks like he can control a midfield complete opposite of this pace and power nonsense we watched this season

has to be signed ,if Alonso plays 3-5-2 im starting Stiller over Tcouameni as the 6

Mastantuono plays on right wing for River Plate. I think talks with his camp and CM search are not interlinked. Stiller as Kroos replacement and Mastantuono as wing depth option if Rodrygo leaves.

If Rodrygo leaves, our attack depth will be Mbappe, Vini, Brahim and Endrick for 2 spots? Guler will fight for midfield spot.

I agree 3 CB system needs 6 options which we don't have so maybe it will be 4-4-2 if we sign Stiller.

Has anyone actually seen Stiller play on a consistent basis? Stats look promising.
Huijsen is good signing, but he’s another one dimensional player.

I would want the club to take a long term position. If this competition becomes a prestigious competition, it’s way better to have started winning the first few in a row than playing catchup.

The European Cup in the 50s wasn’t sure to become the premier club competition in the world at the time. But we won the first five and it kind of gave us the prestige we lived off for the next forty years.

The competition exists. If it pays well, go and try to win it instead of half-assing it.

Some of you are moving a bit mad. In a hypothetical 3CB system there is Asencio, Rudiger and Huijsen as starters. Militao, Alaba and Jacobo/Joan Martinez as subs.
Militao turns 28 this summer and has a contract until 2028. Club won't just give up on him, they'll try him next year. Alaba has 1 more year on his contract, might look better when he's fully ready(90% won't).

You all want to give chances to young players yet now you want to go Football Manager.
Saliba has a contract until 2027 and apparently club is interested to sign him at cut price next year or for free.

This won't be a revolution. This will be fixing some holes and a transitional year. Doesn't mean RM can't win but plenty of questionmarks like Alaba, Carvajal, Militao (all from injury, and age apart from Militao).

And not like Xavi can play 2CB, 4 at the back in case of injury crisis.

TAA being such an attack-oriented fullback is another reason people are assuming a 3-4-3.

At a certain point, though, there’s not much of a personnel difference between a 3-4-3 – where one of the wingbacks is an ultra-attacking fullback, the other is essentially a wide midfielder, and one of the on-paper center backs is a CB/FB tweener – and a 4 man back line.

I think it's a financial issue with Konate and he will renew. Don't see Saliba renewing with Arsenal as he hasn't won anything big at Arsenal.

But if we get Stiller, 4 man midfield of him Jude, Tcho and Fede makes sense too with 4 defenders.

We're not moving to a 3 CB system just because we signed TAA. That would be ridiculous.

Obviously Fede would play right of midfield to cover TAA perfectly. Same with Tchouameni playing the left side of their pivot to cover Carreras/Vini. I believe the hopes is Stiller will sit behind them deep and could possibly act as a 3rd CB if we pressure upward with width (if not Tchouameni can rotate LCB, Stiller press middle with Fede slightly right and Carreras pushing upward to the left).

I believe the plan is obviously to play the players where they want to play. That means Jude as the tip of the diamond and Vini-Mbappe playing interchangeably as strikers in front.

Toni Kroos has recommended Real Madrid to sign Angelo Stiller. He is a priority to strengthen midfield. @SkySport

Liverpool fans' hatred and disdain for us is at an all time high right now. Reaching the same levels as post Ramos - Salah final. They are so mad that we keep signing players their club has been in talks with and their fans think the player was all but theirs if not for the big bad real madrid. They feel like if we didn't exist their team would have Tchouameni, Mbappe (yes their fans think he was gonna go there because of the aura of the kop or something), Jude, Trent, Huijsen and more. Quite frankly, i am enjoying seeing them meltdown and call us all kinds of shit.

Don't play with my emotions like this Saeta. I don't know anything about this Stiller guy but you guys keep posting these really great stats and i am beginning to get that fizzy feeling. :D

If you look at how Xabi's uses spacing in his formations, I have a hard time seeing him opting for these diamond formations.

Regardless of formation, Xabi typically has two players out wide.
One player isloated high up on one side (Frimpong), and the one sitting deeper (Grimaldo) working more as a part of slow build up and connecting more with other midfielders.

From what I have been told, this aspect was also present in his 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 formations. This is why I think these formations don't tell the whole story when it comes to how they function.

If you ignore positions, who do you want isolated out on one of the wings? The obvious choice is Vini. The trouble comes on the other side. One of the problems with Carlos's systems is that it overcrowded the left with Vini, Mbappe, Bellingham, and sometimes Rodrygo. Whoever was on the right side, whether that was Rodrygo, Brahim, Guler ended up very isolated which is counterintuitive when its the Vini side that should function more in isolation. This meant the right side ended up useless or in 1 on 1 situations when the best 1 on 1 player is on the left.

I don't know how Xabi will choose to fix this but I do not think he will allow this to happen again.
His solution will probably depend on how he sets up the formation.

I certainly see the logic in this. I am convinced Florentino has put a lot of focus on this tournament and you're right. Winning the inaugral one carries with it some prestige. Florentino loves stuff like this. Remember when FIFA gave us that best club of the century award and Florentino would bring it up for years and years afterwards, i think he sees this tournament in a similar light. It's the WORLD CUP of clubs so if we win it we will be WORLD champions. I get it.

Just the timing of it all isn't great for us. There was a summer tournament last year as well. The guys need some kind of break. Sadly our big rival isn't in the tournament (Madrid Corruption!!!11!!!!) so they will be resting and then preparing for the next season while our guys will be pushing hard to win this thing while not being fully fit, not having the benefit of a settled team (new coach, new trainer) and THEN getting ready for the real season as well. Just wish it wasn't this summer. Worst possible timing for us.

I was skeptical of these rumors at the beginning. But there have been a couple of Spanish reporters reporting that his agent was in Madrid for a meeting so there seems to be some smoke.

I think some individuals have found it a puzzling move when you have Guler and Nico with a buyback option.

But it kind of makes sense if you think Guler and Nico are in the long term central midfielders and Mastantuano is right now a almost an out and out right winger.

BILD | According to some sources, Bayern Munich is considering the return of David Alaba, Real Madrid is clear that they will allow him to leave if an offer arrives.

Ok, this I certainly do not believe.
Maybe if you switch Bayern for Saudi.

The only way this is true is if Real Madrid is going to eat his entire salary and Bayern is signing him to some small wage to basically retire at Bayern. Even that is a stretch.

If Real Madrid is going to have to pay almost his entire salary, they are better off keeping him as the 5th CB for insurance. Militao's health is still a complete question marker, so Militao+Alaba is more or less one player instead of 2. ;)
