People want to trust Florentino and point out all the titles won in the last decade but how many times did he get bailed out and see the club succeed despite him. One fax machine malfunction and minutes away from De Gea in goal and talking about a CL re-peat as only a dream and suggesting a 3-peat just laughable. He did get Rafa Benitez, so it's not like it was a total failure that summer transfer window. Yeah really sucks for everyone that the front office basically threw away a season being cheapskates only to tell us their wallet isn't lost anymore because they found it in their pants pocket while doing laundry this week.
No, you're not being greedy. As me and others have said already, Kerkez would be the preferred signing at LB. He's a machine. But he'll cost more than Carerras and it will be difficult for Bournemouth to lose both Huijsen and Kerkez in a single transfer window.
Am glad we are looking for midfield options, we do need better passers in CM for sure. I am curious what profile to go for though, a pivot (#6) where we already have Tchouameni, or a Modric type creative b2b (#8). Seems like from the options we are linked to (Zubimendi, Wharton and Stiller) maybe Xabi wants Tchouameni to be more of a b2b, wants him at CB or prefers Camavinga to him. Can't imagine we start with Tchouameni with another 6 next to him.
Tcho played alongside Kroos in 2023-24 so maybe they are looking at a #8 with passing range even if that player is not strong defensively to be a DM.
You'll probably see some sort of 4-4-2 diamond or traditional 4-4-2 with Bellingham and Valverde on the flanks giving Bell a more free role. Tchou and the passing DM for a partnership. Cama can play all along the midfield. Perhaps even a lopsided 4-4-2 that we played under Capello.
There's no way this guy is going from Crystal Palace straight to Madrid. The only reason Huijsen is getting consideration is because he's Spanish.
If anyone could have convinced the board of signing players it was Carlo. Except he willingly chose to be a lacky and reiterated his satisfaction with the roster. When we failed, he reminded the board that he was missing 5 defenders. In the end, all he did was push for Mendy's renewal and got it.
To be honest, I haven't seen much of Stiller or Wharton, but Zubimendi is a Busquets/Rodri not a Kroos. I know Zubimendi seems on his way to Arsenal anyways, but if that's the kind of player we are looking for then seems to have too much overlap with Tchouameni in his current role.
I like what im seeing from Carreras, the guy is tall i check it he is taller than Mendy and he is strong,he has a precence on the left complete opposite of that small guy Fran.
Esquiel Palacios was close back then in 2019 to sign for RM. Yet, Zidane didn’t want him. His name relate to us. Is he RM level ?
On the discussion about using the academy and whether there is quality in those levels or not, it’s a bit ironic that it seems we’re about to spend a pretty penny to get a left back that was in our academy
The crazy part is we seem to develop tons of FB talent... Like we have a special ability there yet somehow not one given a run this year or developed. For me this is why Carlo had to go. I understood he was left to struggle and not supported this winter by JAS and Florentino. I understood that this current team with the injuries needed herculean effort and clinical finishing to win trophies. However Carlo didn't help himself managing the young talent and growing them in the fall to be useful pieces in the spring.
Doesn't reflect well to be honest. Nobody vouched for the guy? When Kroos was playing for Bayern's youth team he told Uli Hoeneß "if he doesn't work out, just fire me, i'll never ask for anything, just get this guy to the team with us" after he was waved off when he spoke of an elite talent in the youth team. Seems to be a matter of culture that everybody kind of does his own thing. The way Iker Bravo spoke of Madrid, it seemed like the Castilla process is completely business oriented, guys come and go like with any other pro team.
He left us at 17, when Man Utd offered him a pro contract before we did and convinced him he wouldn't play for us because of Miguel Guti who is the same age as him. Wouldn't be the first time we missed out on a jewel from Castilla anyways, like Mata.
Yea. Utd got Pique the same way after Cesc was already starting for Arsenal at 16. RM had also signed Mendy who had a very good 2019-20 debut season so Carreras probably thought that position was locked up for a decade.
Liverpool are expected to contact Bayer Leverkusen and trigger Jeremie Frimpong's £30million release clause to make the Holland international their first signing of the summer transfer window. Negotiations are ongoing with the player's representatives over personal terms with Frimpong keen to make the move to Anfield. ________ Liverpool also interested in Kerkez. Szoboszlai is his Hungarian teammate and close friend.
Marca says Xabi wants Carreras as left wing back "in the five-man defensive line Xabi Alonso intends to implement in his new project." https://www.marca.com/futbol/real-m...reras-pole-lateral-izquierdo-real-madrid.html Rudiger, Asencio, Huijsen could all start if that's the case with Carreras and TAA as wing backs. 3-5-2 with Tcho, Fede, Jude midfield and Vini and Mbappe up front.
