Rodrygo leaving if we are spending big on a midfielder. Will be a sign of 4 starting midfielder system.

They also tend to have high wages too, what's your point?

I presume Bayern will be after him just like any promising German player.

that it's not transfer fee vs signing bonus.

The "free signing" still ends up cheaper. Plus you screw over the competition so it's a win / win.

Xabi would’ve had a front row seat for any German talents, so these new links do make some sense.

He was playing there until recently, he's one of theirs. But then again, A LOT of players are and he left them.

Obviously, but the point was that we have still spent money on defenders. You're doing that thing again where you argue for arguing sake.

The table just runs the transfer fees. It's correct isn't it?

If yyou include wages, bonuses, agent fees multiple of those teams are in the 800 to 900 million range so we're still far far away from them.

Take it from good authority that multiple clubs (Bayern, PSG, Juventus amongst them) are pro transfer fee even for players outside of their contract. They want to lobby for that, and the reason is mainly Real Madrid.

Yes, hence the table is misleading. That's the point.

It's not a serious take. I think the club is paying something like 250 million over 5 years with half paid in wages and half the signing bonus.

That kind of money could have bought a brand new defense.

Then you add the wage issue, whicu becomes completely unbalanced. He's by far the highest wage earner starting at day 1 but the next guy to negotiate gets to use that figure as leverage. He gets a raise that's 5x what he made before but it's presented as only 1/2 of what Mbappe earns.

The distance is still pretty much the same. Also, not spending transfer fees could be seen as a lack of committment to a player. So it has it's own side effect on business relations with players.

It's only misleading if you take the wrong lesson from it, i think we've still spent low on defense, something i fully agree with by the way, because most of them are comically overpriced fo what they deliver.

I'm going to buy you an Mbappe shirt fresh off the club website if you shut up about him.

It's reaching the point where he could legit print out your posts here and get a restraining order.

Err, no, it objectively and categorically is not. We pay higher than average wages and higher than average signing bonuses on free transfers, that's how it works. I don't know why I'm even in engaging with you, carry on.

He looked very good when we played them at the Bernabeu.

Below is what his stats look like per 90 minute average compared to Bundesliga centre mids.

We beat the best PL competition (other than City) in signing Dean:

If we want to compete we must sign MC and 2nd Stryker style Juselo/Budimir (19 goals so far)/Soroloth

Isn't he another B2B? Need someone like Vintinha in midfield not more B2B who can not make line breaking passes

Plus a 17/18 year old isn't coming straight into the midfield either. Pointless transfer IMO
