I agree regarding the athleticism bit, particularly as it's not as if he can "develop" speed and / or acceleration. I can't remember the last "average paced" CB we had that was successful. But I guess we've got to put faith in Juni et. al, and reports say that we've been tracking and assessing him for a while.
It's funny because we mostly agree on this, but you are so emotionally invested on defending Carlo, you can't see it. Unusual from you.
He's great on the ball. I have concerns about his pace. Dean Huijsen's distribution. pic.twitter.com/xZuVzvOMqa— ✘ 🇵🇸 (@KaixerT8) May 13, 2025
I thought the club wasn’t gonna go after Huijsen (freezing cold take), and made fun of him for “twerking” for the club in the media. If he signs for us I’ll support him to the end cause I owe it to him.
I hope Xabi wants him and he fits his idea. People dont understand how desperately we need a passing ball playing CB. The whole pace thing for Huijsen is exaggerated imo. I watched him, hes quick enough. And if hes quick enough for the Premier then hes quick enough everywhere. But if the idea is again to play a high line and bailout flying tackles because the first two lines are swiss cheese then better bring some Rudiger clone that will just outsprint and outmuscle anyone and kick it in the stands. Personally Im tired of it. We need serious change in the way we play and signing Huijsen is a massive sign that we know that and fully intend to go for that change.
I won't lie, having TAA and Huijsen running back, during ball recovery periods of play, is a little bit concerning. But they both bring a lot of ball progression and world class backline distribution.
Is there anything in the clip that Asensio cannot do just as well? Asensio has good distribution and is fast too, just the other parts of defending make him not elite (yet?). Do we need two or three of those same profile players (good on the ball, can’t defend) in the back line?
Having Dean in the lineup might mean that Tchou's position changes. People have been wondering about a back three and it might not entirely be like that for most of a game, but I'm wondering if having the ball playing CB that's not the quickest may be flanked by a Tchou that drops back and a quicker partner.
Regarding Carreras, his buyout clause at Benfica is between 50-60 ME depending on which source while Utd have a buyback option between 15-20 ME and a sell on clause if they choose not to invoke buyback option. Utd signed LB Dorgu for 35 M in January. Carreras apparently prefers RM move. Knowing Benfica, they will demand us to pay his buyout clause. He was in our youth system though we poached him from Deportivo. Utd then did the same to RM.
Oh no, how is it that we're chasing a CB from the 10th placed EPL side? He's 10 years younger than Rudiger with half the minutes this season #dossierlogic
1922390968436760707 is not a valid tweet id the clause is the same for all the clubs, it’s £50m to be paid in 3 separate installments :-)— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) May 13, 2025
He's clearly wanted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, so getting him will be a coup for us. Fingers crossed that there isn't a last minute hijack deal.
Looks like we're the ones hijacking it. Last week the narrative was totally different then it is right now.
I hope he isn't as slow as many of you are saying but I have literally read and heard too many say "slow" when describing this kid. That isn't the type we need or that succeeds with us. We need dynamic, athletic and fast enough to make up with speed. Anyways, at least people are getting their CB. Now we need a LB
🚨 Real Madrid know that Dean Huijsen is giving them priority but Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal are very aggressive and they are ready to close the deal ASAP. @FabrizioRomano pic.twitter.com/3uZ6GNUtM2— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) May 13, 2025 🚨 NEW: Real Madrid and Dean Huijsen's camp had a FORMAL meeting, where the player's camp INFORMED the club that Huijsen wants to JOIN Real Madrid! @FabrizioRomano pic.twitter.com/nZwD7ZXbGA— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) May 13, 2025
I think he's freshly injured with a muscular issue but it doesn't appear to be serious. Does seem to get injured a lot but last I checked the Manc supporters are pleased with his performances. He would've made a lot of mistakes wearing the white shirt but I think he's as good as the scouting suggested.
Yoro struggled against Lyon and was struggling with injuries and form for majority of this season. Utd are losing every week in PL, but doesn't matter apparently ever since they avoided relegation possibility. They dominated Athletic Bilbao and are in EL final so fans are excited about winning it and qualifying for CL. If they lose, it will be their worst season in last 40 odd years.
This is probably the end of the road for the Tchou experiment. If the team plays 5 at the back with there's no way the fans will go along with also having a DM in the lineup and I don't see Florentino accepting it either. I also see Xavi working on molding Fed or Jude into a deep lying playmaker like himself and not utilizing a DM. Also food for thought. Xabi may want to keep Vini as LW and Mbappe as CF, meaning he needs solutions for the right wing
