The pro-EPL bias is real; they want to sign all the talents from the other top 4 leagues BUT get pissed when clubs in those top 4 do the same to talents within their league.

It makes sense why they 'cried wolf' when Real Madrid started the Super League; they've been doing it all along.

True, but they have all the money. Let's not kid ourselves, Serie A and La Liga are shadows of their former glory.

Whereas the EPL keeps growing, teams like Aston Villa and Tottenham have bigger budgets than most big clubs in the top 4 non-EPL leagues.

Yeah, I think Carreras might be a 2nd option come start of next season. Simply due to seniority and 4 years age difference. We'll see what Alonso thinks, but I would be surprised if Carreras gets a head start right away.

I'm a bit careful with the transfer rumors and the hope peddling right now. Could be setting up a net for people to fall back on if we get waxed in the next few matchdays.

Show dont tell, especially after the Yoro business.

He's 23 years old, just 1 year older than Carreras and 2 years older than Kerkez, plus he's been a starter at Leverkusen with Xabi for his entire stint.

Xavi said he specifically chose Xhaka as one of the few players he requested by name to be a "culture leader, and on field general". It wasn't about the player profile, he wanted him specifically to be the team's voice on the field. He seemed the most thankful to Xabi as well, it's communicated that Leverkusen suggested other players, but it really came down to personality.

I don't think Arda has any of those qualities yet, neither should he at this point of his career.

My only concern is that coming from Bornemouth where it’s a team that defends 10 behind the ball in a lower block, what type of performance will he have playing with us at a much higher line?

My hope with any next CB prospect is having one that can distribute the ball.

SR was essentially our DM playing passes, this allowed the MF to push slightly higher up and occupy space.

I’m not sure we’re looking for a midfielder to be a culture leader and field general in the same way that Xhaka was. That should already be covered by the stars, as long as they have the mentality that they should.

For the “Xhaka role”, we only need the aspect of distributing the ball and dictating pace well.
