I know he is a legend and the club extended him but I am assuming next season will be his last. I don't see how he comes back without a huge decline.
if there is decent amount of contract left I'd want to see how a coach might get more out of him but that said wouldn't be surprised if him and another player (Camavinga) exit this summer.
Lots of hints that there will have to be sales for buys to be funded. Camavinga, Tchouameni, Rodrygo and Guler amongst the favorites/guys with concrete offers.
I think most of would like to keep him but the reality is we're not bringing in reinforcements without sales. We're not getting anything for Alaba, Lucas, Vallejo or Militao if we could even convince the ones with time on their contracts to leave
Interesting video. Very similar to what I was thinking. A few thoughts on it: I’d replace Camvinga with Arda for the Xhaka role. As the video notes, we don’t have a great fit for the Frimpong role. Rather than Rodrygo, I’d have Jude play it and hopefully get someone like Wirtz or Paz to play the Wirtz role. If he ends up staying, I think Rodrygo would go where the video has Jude and vice versa. Mendy is ok as a starter, but it’d be better if we had someone like Hincapie. Valuable players that wouldn’t quite fit as starters and thus might look to be sold are Rodrygo, Camavinga, Tchouameni, and one of Fran or Mendy.
After Ozil, I'll never be shocked at a player being sold. I think Cama is most likely to go if one of he or Tchou were to go.
We've sold so many solid players like Owen, Saviola, Huntelaar, Sneijder, Robben [this one really pissed me off], etc. Whenever we bought a 'star' other players were sold off to balance the books. No player sold will surprise me any longer.
Mendy isn't reliable, he's missed about 40 games in the past couple seasons. It doesn't make sense to build anything around a guy who's chance of playing 90 minutes is as unpredictable as a lottery ticket. Edit: The thing that should be frustrating us is renewing Mendy and having Alaba's wages to look forward to for a couple seasons. We have too many passengers that we can't move out in the squad.
🚨 JUST IN: Talks between Real Madrid & Dean Huijsen are now going VERY WELL! @marca pic.twitter.com/oOqYBjjhaw— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) May 13, 2025 🚨 BREAKING: Real Madrid have decided to sign Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras in the next 2-3 weeks. @jpedrerol pic.twitter.com/mSyrQStiRH— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) May 13, 2025 🚨 NEW: Dean Huijsen is ready to GIVE UP higher wages offered by Premier League in order to join Real Madrid. @marca pic.twitter.com/JngcLXUMTJ— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) May 13, 2025 🚨 BREAKING: Dean Huijsen has now informed Real Madrid that he intends to JOIN THEM! @marca pic.twitter.com/Le0c8Johav— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) May 13, 2025
Huijsen is solid from what I've seen of him at Bournemouth. Good buy if we can actually get him and we don't cheap out
Carreras has done well with Benfica. Looking at his scouting profile, he's got more progressive ball carries than the our current left backs. He's also a better aerial presence and a crosser of the ball. He lags behind in duels. Might be a decent option behind Fran.
He seems to excel in short and long range passing, touches of the ball, as well as recovering the ball especially in the opponents half. Is really tall for a left back and can play centre back if needed to. I’m excited at not seeing Mendy or (especially!) Fran start games for us next season. A new better LB is a must.
If there is a chance to get back Theo, we should take it. We need two LBs, a starter and a rotation player. Mendy and Fran should both be sent packing tbh.
There doesn't appear to be anyone reporting Theo has a release clause so it probably doesn't exist. Theo Hernández (Left Back) has 2 years and €10,260,000 Estimated Gross Salary remaining on his contract with AC Milan (Serie A), expiring on Jun 30, 2026. Theo Hernández, who is 27 years old, will earn an Estimated Base Salary of €5,130,000 for the 2024-2025 Season, or €98,654 gross per week, excluding bonuses. So would likely to cost around 10-15ME or we bring on a free next summer when his contract finishes
If JAS and Florentino's place is reinforcement behind Fran you guys will be looking for another managerial hire this time next season.
All the Spanish outlets are linking us heavily to Huijsen, meanwhile outside of Spain: 🚨🔄 Understand that Arsenal and Liverpool are currently in pole position for Dean #Huijsen. A decision is expected soon. #LFCReal Madrid remain keen on him.A move to Bayern appears unlikely at this stage, as time is not on their side. To sign Huijsen, Bayern would need to… pic.twitter.com/qtJyJblcij— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) May 13, 2025
He's a good player with limitations. Wouldn't mind him as a backup, but without support from the team he's getting smoked.
