€25-30M for Davies is a punt. There's still reason to think there's a big talent in there, at that price I would say take a shot and see what you might be able to recover. No problem with that.

But unless Bayern flat out is done with him and knows he's not gonna re-sign, it's not worth it to them to sell him at that price. Might as well see if they can recover him themselves and, at worst, get one good season out of him before he walks. Don't want to set precedent for selling at a cut rate in the last year of a contract...Musiala's still unsigned beyond 2025-'26 so unless that changes in the next 12 months he'll be in the shoes Davies is in now, albeit I don't expect Musiala to have a miserable season next year. (In this case, I'm mentioning Musiala just in general, nothing to do with us.)

Lol I got roasted on this forum for saying €50M was outrageous just months ago

I'm glad everyone has finally caught up

Anyone here rate Fran at all? He comes across a bit timid but I see something there.

And surplus to needs if we did get Davies eventually. You'd want a defensive-minded LB alternative to Davies, and Fran's defensive ability is...not great.

He had a chance to make a name for himself at the beginning of the season when Mendy was out, and didn't pass the test at all. No surprise Carlo basically binned him after that.

IF we get Davies yeah he’s pretty much gone. We’ll have a LB who can attack and a LB who is better defensively in Mendy.

However, if a good offer comes in for Mendy, I think the club will seriously look at it with his contract up in 2025.

    Calafiori all day.

He can play CB, LB, and anywhere in the midfield if needed. Super versatile and is going to be a truly special defender.

Stronger but slower options are Scalvini and Buongiorno.

Is Calafiori fast? I think RM has stayed away from slow defenders ever since Walter Samuel experience. One of the best defenders of his generation, but really struggled due to lack of pace in RM's high line.

Highly rated Italian players rarely go abroad as well. Our last two Italian defenders were Panucci in 96 and Cannavaro in 2006. Both signed by Capello. Carlo convinced Verratti to sign for PSG when he was their coach. I don't think we have signed any Italian players under Carlo.

Lol. Pedro Lima ends up at Wolves instead of Chelsea. Officially announced by his club. Wolves gave him 6 year deal with final one being an option.

I simply don't want him on the team. I would wait if he renews with Bayern or not. If he doesn't, I am okay if he is a free transfer. Alaba and Rudiger were free, btw.

Apparently Rafa Marin is closing in on a move to Napoli. Let's get rid of Vallejo permanently and get a CB.

Yes, Calafiori is quick, he would fit right in.

    Walter Samuel was a nightmare.
I hope whoever made that decision got fired.

How could they not know that a defender with the speed of a turtle would be a disaster at Madrid?

Just not enough room for all of them. I like Calafiori, I also like Scalvini (I know he's long-term injured), I'd welcome either of them, but unless David Alaba somehow goes missing this summer, our CB quartet is set if we get Yoro. And there's still the playing time issue regardless...it's hard to keep four CBs all happy with their playing time if you're one of those Italians and you know you can get more playing time elsewhere, and it would suck for the game in general too to have those guys eating bench time and not playing as much as they can and showing their ability.

The only regrettable thing for me about Calafiori is that he seems Juventus-bound. He's too good to stay at Bologna forever, just wish he wasn't joining that club. But I'm biased.

On a different note (although building off the first paragraph), the thing about being a Madrid fan is that it's like looking at the menu in a restaurant when you look at the world's best players. Just pick and choose and talk about which ones you like the best and all that stuff since, if Madrid wanted any of them, they could probably find a way to get them. It's a pretty terrible thing for fans to be able to do. More players we like than spots for them to play in...some guys are simply best admired from a distance.

Curious to see Conte interested in him. You would expect that Napoli investing in such a high profile manager, they're going to revamp the squad and get back in the Champions League soon enough

Lille was leaking 60 M a month ago via French media and now it has come down to 50 M with variables included. I think we will get it done for 40 M plus variables.
