I agree with this. Its not that Caro is dumb or is a dinosaur. Sometimes the same voice in the locker room just gets stale. Carlo is still a GOAT manager regardless. I’ve posted this question before but never got an answer. If Carlo couldn’t figure out the tactical solutions this season, what would an additional season do if he has basically the same team next season?
I don't think there's much to figure out. If we send the next manager without the proper tools into the project we deserve what we get. We've gone years without properly addressing certain needs, if we'd need a tree it would have grown from a seed already.
I'd rather keep Carlo with some additions like Trent, back up CB since Klopp seems to have retired from coaching for now. Xabi coming off a mediocre season at Leverkusen and expected to deliver titles with RM doesn't sound like a good situation for either side. Carlo usually has a track record of bouncing back after an underperforming season at the highest level.
You're not going to sign a coach off a great season all the time. If we believe in Xabi, we sign him. If we don't, the results shouldn't be what decides it.
And management has always seemed to fail Carlo with the lack of proper reinforcements at certain positions.
We might see a case where Carlo was given a barebones team this year without major restructuring in order to support a new coaching staff next year. Who knows really.
The absolute ideal would be a CB who can legitimately play RB as well. Someone like Ben White for example.
Didn't take much time for Tchoumeni to prove me right both defensively and with the ball. He is no where near Madrid quality.
Banish Theo because he isn't good enough for RM standards. Banish Ode because he isn't good enough for RM standards. Banish Miguel because he isn't good enough for RM standards. What's next, banishing Guler and Endrick? Some great squad building there.
Niro syndrome of dumb narratives catching on. Theo was sold in 2019. Zidane wanted Mendy. You crying about it after 5 years? What about Mendy being starting LB in 2 CL and 3 Liga titles? Dumb whinging is so normalised here right now. Miguel we still have buyback clause on. But then again, Fran was the guy as long as he was at Rayo.
That he was the starting LB says more about the rest of the team (and Kroos playing so close to him) than it does about him.
Yea, ZZ and Carlo are two naive coaches who praised him as the best fullback in the world defensively. Meanwhile Theo gets exposed defensively with France in biggest KO games. Maybe Mendy made the difference defensively vs City, Pool etc. Kroos played LM and Modric played RM during Marcelo days as well.
Of course they will praise him he's their player, what are you smoking? Why would Zidane publicly criticize a player he signed? By the way this is really funny, you nitpick at the flaws of the players who left and are doing GOOD with their other clubs, while minimizing or even ignoring the flaws of those we have (who keep getting exposed game after game). And how do you know that we wouldn't have won those CLs with Theo instead of Mendy for example? You can't possibly know, you're just making it up. Want to know another player who keeps getting exposed with France? He is our dear #6.
Viktor Gyökere with another 3 goals smash City This 9 really good. I have read that Barca want him for Lewa replacement
What I know is you were probably shitting on Theo when he struggled at RM and Real Sociedad. Funny you talk about nitpick when Mendy is a proven starter for RM winning the most important titles multiple times. Theo plays for Milan and you don't even watch him regularly. Bang average team except one season in Serie A. No need for psychoanalysis regarding Mendy with Carlo. Carlo has been requesting the club to renew Mendy from 2023 itself. Carlo means it when he praised Mendy as best defensive FB several times. And no Mendy didn't even get called up for World Cup by clown DD and neither was he on the pitch getting ripped apart by Spain in recent Euros. So no way of scapegoating Mendy regarding French NT lol
And ZZ benched Marcelo in big games to start Mendy. ZZ's 2019-21 league teams were solid defensively and he obviously loved what Mendy brought to that side.
1. No you don't know that, and no I wasn't. 2. This isn't even worthy of a reply. 3. Wasn't doing any psychoanalysis. Head coaches are people too, they have their own biases which sometimes can go against the best interests of the team.
The rest of the personnel has changed and can no longer make up for the glaring deficiencies in Mendy's game.
Remember, we cannot improve upon Mendy because he helped us win trophies, can't improve upon Lucas because he helped us win trophies, can't improve upon Tchouameni because he helped us win trophies, we can't improve upon Carlo because he helped us win trophies... Just what the heck are we supposed to improve upon, then? Just be fine regardless of the results we're getting and the football we're seeing on the pitch.
We are missing 2 most important players: Kroos and Carvajal. Without them, this season is likely over for us. Only signing in January can change something (if there will be what to save)
