I struggle to see how he fits on a team that already has Bellingham. Feel like he's Premier League tied.

Kind of like how Barca fans had Raphinha as a scapegoat and suddenly he's their new hero. :D

I wonder if anyone watched Rodri during his Villarreal and Atleti days and said yeah this guy is going to become a world-class CDM and a BD'Or winner.

To be fair, I didn't think he'd be a BD'Or winner this past season either.

    Lol. Let's say top 3.

Though the noise started after Spain won the Euro.

Well, the scouts did that is why he was picked up to play the most important position by pep.

And frankly it is time we look for the 6s in Spain. Look at the top class 6s Spain is producing and we haven't had one while Barca , atletico, sociedad all had few of world beaters with them.

Hindsight always win. Illarramendi was signed to be Xabi's successor after impressing at Real Sociedad. Couldn't cope with pressure and was shitting bricks at Dortmund when Xabi was unavailable.

We have had Casemiro, Tcho and Camavinga playing DM during Rodri's years at City and they helped us win 2 CLs. It's been alright despite missing out on Rodri.

You put Tchouameni on the market now and he flies off the shelf.

He's a standout talent, I am absolutely convinced he's a player we'd see in another kit doing great feeling like total idiots. I'm holding all my Tchouameni stock.

He's not Casemiro, or Kroos, but he can still be a phenomenal player in one or two years within the right process. I'm holding.

if he’s not Casemiro or Kroos, who is he then? How do you see him become a phenomenal player? Because in the 2.5 years he’s been here it’s been very underwhelming.

As i said, he's a 24 year old french international with absolute standout physical traits. Before i think of selling/replacing him, i'm moving off of Ceballos who is pretty much a non factor on this squad.

They're always looking for a scapegoat; give us a better alternative. Onana? Lavia? Caicedo?

The only upgrade would be to get Rodri; but it's risky given his ACL.

I see this happening only if we get a huge offer but even then, the guy we'll replace him with would cost just as much if not more.

Fede to me is a better 6 than Tchoumeni. I’d rather get another creator play with Fede than keep Tchoumeni. I’ve been saying this but the two of them are completely redundant on the field at the same time.

Tchouameni's problem is that he isn't coached properly. Build a proper system and tell him what he needs to do in it and how, and he will be great.

Not sure about great, but for now he presents excellent value for the club.

Plus I simply don't trust us to not do something silly and replace him with another attacking player.

Nah, he switches off abit too much at DM defensively for me. Doesnt seem to be covering enough ground for his athletic profile.

If it was ok with him, I’d move him to CB permanently and move to a double pivot of Fede and Camavinga with Tchou as backup DM.

Yes "they' are, still, you'd sell Eder in a heartbeat, same thing you do others are doing, just focusing on different players, when things don't go well some fans will always look for a scapegoat, same old same old, nothing to see here IMO, i'm still backing Tchou to come good but he's got to step it up, and sooner rather than later

I don't understand the Tchoumeni stocks btw.

Is he a ball winner talent like Kante ? No. Does he have the positioning to protect the mid space like Casemiro ? No. Can he participate in build up? No. Can he receive with back to goal ? No. Is he a long range passer to make up for it ? No.

Dude is a very good player , teams like Arsenal or Atletico or even Bayern can make use of him but definitely not Real Madrid quality to play one of the most important positions.

This is easily a problem that is coached out of a player in training, and definitely related to too much affirmation to freedom of playing the way you want to play as a player and not the best way you can play according to the coach's ideas.

He is a great DM, just not maximized. Just moving him to CB doesn't solve anything, he will just play the same way, just as a CB. We have better CBs than him who have similar issues. It all starts from the coach.

This is my problem with him. He can do everything okay. I think a lot of scouts saw a his play as something that could be refined where he could develop clear strong points in his game coupled with the fact that when he was young he was most likely huge comparitvely.

I think he also has a bit of the same problem Pogba had where his immense size and physicality isn't really properly utilized. This guy should be giving us Yaya Toure influence in the middle but he's just kind of there until he mistimes his tackle on the opponent or Camavinga.

Here's another hot take, I don't think he's a better passer than Casemiro, a guy who got absolutely dunked on for being allegedly a bad passer for a long time here.

Meh, there are other players than Rodri that would be an upgrade for madrid at the 6. I agree that both Caicedo and Lavia would be better fits for madrid than Tchouameni.

But the "gettable" player that would instantly improve how madrid play would be Kimmich, IMO.
