Mendy will be the starting LB in big games so having Trent on the other side is fine.

Classic Flo, negligent decision making with regard to the defense, then has media handlers make it seem as nothing more than stinginess when it's a complete dereliction of duties.

It's so bad that this is actually a rational explanation but then again Flo has a history for this kind of thing, some people call it a "policy" but I don't know "policies" are usually supposed to be good for someone, somewhere. Maybe it's a policy to benefit every other club in La Liga.

It's really dumb for the club to just sit on it's hands and wait for TAA to come next season. What if he pulls a Mbappe and decides to stay? What if he gets injured? What if with Madrid handicapped for the season another team like say PSG emerges as a CL winner or contender and TAA moves there instead? All realistic scenarios.

Can we be sure Florentino is aware that loan still exists as an option? Doesn't have to be Trent in the winter, but for the love of god get someone to rotate with Lucas. Fullback is the easiest position to get a decent player because there are so many out there.

Also, this entire discussion about how good Trent would be defensively is futile without thinking about the coach and tactics. Under Carlo he would definitely be a liability. Thats why Im hoping we get him in the summer, along with Klopp (or at least Xabi Alonso)

Is there no promising RB in the cantera? Lorenzo Aguado or David Jimenez?

Fortea is the highly rated talent. We snatched him from Atletico academy couple of years back. But he's 17 and plays for Arbeloa's Juvenil A and in Youth CL. Carlo hardly tried Castilla players so someone that young is unlikely.

Maybe Perez is just bored and opts for a higher difficulty setting.

Valverde is so great that i have no doubt he can boss the RB role but his absence in the middle must be compensated. Wish we had a healthy Ceballos at least

Fede is our best midfielder and I don't see him getting moved to RB. I think Militao as RB against tough opponents is more likely with Tcho partnering Rudiger. I think LV will start Clasico and his performance will decide if he gets to start following big games.

100 percent agree. I'm just making sure that people aren't defining TAA as a complete fullback. He is not. He's a wingback. And that's exactly what we need assuming we play Camavinga, Valverde and Tchouameni.

Frankly, we could use two wingbacks given how defensive our midfield is.

Let's not forget that Militao at RB is trash. That shouldn't even be considered.

Oh yeah. If people thought Mendy was limited they should rewatch the final game of the CL with ZZ in charge where he played Militao at RB.

We were playing a 3-5-2 with Vini as our RWB that game and in general we were an absolutely injury-battered team by the end of that season. By pushing ourselves as hard as we did in the CL that year, we probably cost ourselves a chance at winning La Liga, but it was what it was, always felt a lot of pride with that team.

I am skeptical about TAA arriving in January; he seems more likely to be a summer signing.

The defense will be stretched thin this season. There are concerns about Alaba's reliability upon his return, and Joan and Fortea are unlikely to see much playing time, following our typical approach with young players. As a result, Rudiger, Militao, Lucas, and Tcho will need to cover two positions, and possibly three if Tcho is deployed as a defensive midfielder. That would affect the Camavinga's roles on the team.

I doubt Trent comes this January. Defintely next summer.

As for Joan and Fortea, I can't help but notice a weird push in the media to include Castilla players as future players. Imo, at best we'll see a Carvajal situation where they go on loan and we bring them back and they become starters. Most likely will be a Fran situation though.
