Jesus, you guys are getting destroyed in Australia. We are at 1.39L here in Montreal Canada.

Does Australia produce any petrol? Or Refine?

yeah, it's cheaper in the Greater Toronto area than Montreal :p

It's been a yoyo here. $1.26 to $1.29 a litre. I suspect we will pass the $1.30 by the weekend.

But damn, $1.45 is crazy. I'm assuming 87 octane right?

Yeah. Doesn't make any sense. Montreal has major pipes running North of the island, and is still one of Canada main oil refining operations. (Shell). Doesn't make any sense how we are always ~10 cents higher.

Economies of scale is the one thing I can guess as a reason?

If it makes you feel better, you guys pay peanuts in car insurance when you compare to Toronto :(

These high gas prices need to be boycotted . I propose Mondays to be off your buying gas days. If everyone stops buying gas on Mondays it should send a strong message to the oil companies that the consumers are mad as hell about these ridiculous high prices.

Spread the word: Don't buy gasoline on Mondays.

It won't do anything. Increasing demand, Monopolistic competition, along with an increasingly limited supply as time passes will only drive prices higher and higher.

    skip Tuesday too :)

I do think that a boycott is needed though, a concerted move that will get the oil companies and the speculators attention

The bus is not an option for a self-employed that depends on the car for everything.

There's a facebook campaign to "BOYCOTT HIGH GAS PRICES". LOL.

My suggestion: Carpool. I've done it the past week, since my brother-in-law work i the same field.
