    $7 a gallon in Portugal.

$4.11 is the highest in NYC. Fortunately, my girlfriend drives my car to work and I take the subway from our apartment. We need to develop alternative fuels so we can take away power away form those OPEC pimps.

OPEC is running shit. Alternatives fuels being applied to the mass population is still some 20 - 30 years away. And by then gas could well be only available to the higher class.

If I remmember right, just three or four years ago the big oil companies were crying that there was too much supply and low profits. They started to merge, and voila' , the new mantra is low supplies and high profits . In the meantime prices at the pump more than doubled.

    What's up with that ?

Yeah that happened back in the 80's. Funny thing, there is domestic laws to govern and dismantle all monopolies, but no such laws or intervention for international conglomerates, which is what the companies within the OPEC classify themselves at.

So much corruption. I love it though.

I paid $3.82 a gallon (regular) on Sunday. Not sure if that gas station has gone up, but I've seen other ones around my area since then at $4.09 (regular).

More importantly I say we drill the heck out of Alaska where we got tons of oil just waiting to be drilled!
These freaking' environmentalists have killed the oil industry in the US and in turn are emptying our pockets. To them it's more important to preserve some land and some polar bears than it is to assure our future and our children's well-being... Not to mention that with all the new requirements of Ethanol levels in our gas, this has prompted our farmers to grow corn and wheat to extract it for Ethanol for the gas instead of the traditional use of it because it's more profitable for them, in turn limiting our food supplies and bringing up the prices of bread, meat and other main necesseties!

No it didn't. That monopoly was created long ago. I believe in 1950's with the first countries being Iraq and Saudi. Then I think OPEC created embargo's in the 70's.

So in the 70's not in the 80's.

    Yeah...

    http://www.opec.org/home/

OPEC:The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

They are the reason why oil is so high around the world. Because they control the price, by various forms. They systematically teamed up and eliminated competition between themselves, creating a monopoly within the international sphere.

They are part of the reason for American invading various oil rich countries...
