If prior seasons are the example, I believe all games will be televised. CBC, Sportsnet and GolTV will cover all the games between them. CBC games have been known to be televised live on CBC Bold, and tape delayed on the main channel, Sportsnet occasionally delays the start due to prior commitments running overtime. The schedule will be released soon, though it will likely be changed slightly throughout the season.
Less than $3.00 a month. One quick phone call and it's all yours. TFC games and about 300 pointless soccer "magazine" shows.
Spanish games, German, Brazilian and other MLS games. I think it is the best bang for the buck, too bad no GOLHD yet!
And it'll probably be released two weeks before the opening kickoff, which really upsets most of us here.
GolTV, since it became a MLSE product, has shown a bunch of MLS content (yes, some in magazine show format), which IMHO is a good primer for those who aren't familiar with the league or northern american soccer in general. Definitely. Regular Sunday Real Madrid and Barcelona games make the cost worthwhile alone, especially considering what you pay to see comparable quality from England on Setanta. We'll know that MLS has become truly entrenched when this doesn't happen.
It is, I just complain because the only chance I get to flip it on is when they're showing those kind of shows. If I got the time to see the Bundesliga games once in a while I'd be less drippy.
I can't. Just from the game times, it seems that CBC has a package of Saturday afternoon games. And as Sportsnet has shown interest in the Voyageurs Cup (planning to air all the games this year), presumably they'll also be picking up a package of TFC games. So I expect about the same, unless GOL TV airs some friendlies. What we may be able to hope for though, is more MLS games - they only showed a few from the latter parts of the season last year.
A good alternative is MLS Match Centre, purchased the season pass last year, don't remember the cost, know it was affordable. Hoping this year they will not restrict any games.
You usually have access to it for the entire season. The MLS Match Center subscriptions are usually for one year, and they do not autorenew.
$20 for the year, i watched about 30-40 games on it last year. Quality is pretty good as well, just sucks that the Nationaly broadcast games are not on it.
It's part of the blackout policy they have for it. It's been there for a long time. I guess the up side of it is that the match does appear in the MLS Match Center archives 24 hours afterwards, something they started doing last year.
That's pretty good. Is there a way to save to AVI or MPEG or something so I can put them on a USB key and watch them on TV? I really hate watching stuff for long on my computer ...
Unless you have a good video-capturing program (and I haven't tried to do that yet), I don't believe so. On the other hand, I did say 'yet,' so I imagine that with some effort, it might be possible.
Today a low end PC, used as a dedicated media centre, with onboard hdmi video card, can be had for very cheap. Hook that up to the TV and you are good to go.
It was $20 for the year, which was actually quite fair. Though if you're feeling cheap, can always live off of streams.
Just got this tweet from Paul Beirne: New MLS video player will be hi def, 16:9, ability to watch 3 games at once. Suddenly $40 for full access to all games seems ok. Ooh, Guy like!
If the improve quality does come through then it will be well worth the cash, never seen the point of watching multiview watching 3 or 4 games at once.
My experience with NHL Centre Ice, has been great, 4 games at once, 2 on each TV. If the new MLS Match Centre comes close to this, I'm in. For this to work, it's essential to have a media centre PC, hooked up to a big screen and a fast internet connection.
