To fans of all teams, how many 1996 inagural players remain on your team? I'm a Revs maniac, and last season we lost our final '96er, Ted Chrono. I just read that Etcheverry is the only remanining United oldie. Who remains on yours? Chicago fans, who on your team has played since '96?

Dude, no one on our team has played with our team since 1996.

Based on our roster per MLSnet, however:

Jessie Marsch was with DC in 1996, but I'm not sure if he was a day 1 player or not...DC had a lot of midseason replacements when they started off sucking.

Ante was a 1996 LA player, as was Chris Armas.

Columbus still has McBride, Mais, and Clark from 96

One can scan the player jersey assignments http://www.frii.com/~persing/mls_nums.html for a quick look at the problem.

DC United has Marco Etcheverry, losing Eddie Pope. Jaime Moreno was a mid-season acquisition in 96.

Marcelo Balboa was the last Rapid prior to 2002.

The Crew have, as mentioned, Brian Maisonneuve and Mike Clark, and presumably Brian McBride if he doesn't become Liverpools newest favorite citizen. Yeagley and Warzycha up until this offseason.

It doesn't look like Richard Farrer made the Dallas roster this year.

The last continuous Wiz-man was Mo Johnston prior to 2002, but Preki, with a one-season diversion is back on the team.

The last Galaxites are Mauricio Cienfuegos and Cobi Jones.

Tab Ramos was the last original MetroScum leaving this offseason.

Chrono was the last Revolter from New England, traded the middle of last year.

I think John Doyle was the last originial Clasher, retiring two offseasons ago. I think no Clashers remain with the Quakers.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp True for the most part.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp John Doyle was the last of the 1996 San Jose players to play continuously with the same team until retirement (he retired at the end of the 2000 season).

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Troy Dayak and Ramiro Corrales both started their MLS careers in San Jose in 1996 and played there for a few years, but:

    • Corrales was then traded, but was later reacquired by San Jose in 2001.
    • Dayak got injured, rehabilitated, played in the A-League for a bit, and then joined San Jose again in 2001.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp And as of now, both are still with the Earthquakes.

Farrer retired midway through the 2002 season.

The only Burn player remaining from 1996 is Jason Kreis.

Yes, and that's why I asked if your players had been playing since 96. Obviously all 7 seasons could not have been with the Fire.

You know, personally I'd love to agree with you, I'm always saying to myself, Ante Sucks, Screw you Ante, Get lost Ante. Unfortunately, the bastard keeps scoring goals, which apparently, no one else on the team can do. That kind of makes it hard to keep up the bad attitude towards him.

It would be like trying to pretend that Twellman doesn't exist.

Thank you so much! That not only answers the question in this thread, but proves that I'm more right than the others in our "Who's the best Revolution #10?"

Warzycha wasn't an original member of Columbus. He signed later into the 1996 season as a discovery player.

Not technically true. Dayak was a Metrostar in the beginning, before being a part of the 1st ever MLS trade, going to SJ in exchange for Rhett Harty. Corrales I'm not AS sure about, but I could have sworn that he started as a p-40 with Miami before being traded to the Metros in exchange for Carlos Parra. After that, of course, Ramiro was traded to SJ in exchange for Paul Grafer, whom the Quakes won in a weighted lottery.

Still, he was an inaugural member of the Clash--that is, on the roster for the first game.

Corrales played 2 years for the Clash before the Fusion even existed. He went to Miami in the expansion draft.
