I've been touting the awkward pokemon Anelka for a Januray purchase by Man U for some time now.

Considering he's a City player right now how many of you would welcome him?

The only thing i wonder about is could he handle a bollocking from Keane/ Ferguson without turning cry baby, lol. Apart from that I think he'd be an awesome signing for waht you get. Thoughts?

I wouldn't. And not just because he's a City player (and former Arsenal and Real Madrid man) but because he's a selfish, whiny little bitch.

I've never liked him and I'm not sure that I could even if he put the red jersey on.

I basically agree. He'd have to do alot for us and change his attitude. But if he didn't do it for Arsenal or Real, why would he do it now?

I wouldn't like him, but I'd be grateful to have him, if that makes any sense.

He did do it for Arsenal thats why Real Madrid bought him for over £20 million. But i am not sure about him aswell, dont like his attitude but also i cant see United buying him especially not during the January transfer window seeing as hes cup tied

Anelka is good, not great and while he is much, much more competant than Diego at this stage, he would not satisfy our need as a player who could replace Ruud in emergency or one who could feed him and feed off him in the role of a second striker (not effectively anyway). Therefore it makes little sense to pursue him. Added to his attitude he would be a very, very questionable buy.

Our next purchase (save perhaps a defender) should be someone who could possibly replace Ruud in a 4-2-3-1 or work with Ole Gunnar in a 4-4-2 in which we would have sufficient attacking power to outlast an injury or lengthy suspension.

There's no way Keegan would sell him unless for a price that isn't worth paying (say £20 million). Whether he would be good for united is a more difficult question. He has undoubted ability but as for his attitude - I would have said in most cases that playing for United would be motivation in itself to sort out any attitude problems - but as Motterman points out he had a serious attitude problem at Real. My call for a January transfer bid would be Viduka - he is a very skillful player and finisher (much more so than Smith) and he could play both alongside Ruud or stand in as a lone striker - also he wouldn't cost much and can play in Europe.

Anelka? No one. That boy burned his bridges long ago. As he's shown before, give him the spotlight at a big club and he becomes your stereotypical petulant Frenchman.

Beside, if Liverpool wasn't interested in buying him shouldn't that say something? They'll buy anyone. :)

Let's see, Anelka's played for PSG, Arsenal, Real Madrid, PSG (again), Liverpool, and Citeh. Hmmm, what do all of those teams have in common? Oh yeah. United hate them all. :D

Anelka is a good talent with a serious attitude problem. Even if United wanted him, Citeh would make them overpay tremendously before they would sell him.
