in my opinion Americans don't really care what happens south of the border anyway's ... if it does not affect them then they don't care... One exception maybe Venezuela, remeber they have Oil!!!

I kinda love the fact that all my Brazillian friends were from the middle class in Brasil and now are professionals (no menial job) here in so cal. Its the main reason why people from Mexico are getting such a degrading public fixture. Its the proximity issue. If Brasil was next to the United States, then we would be getting mostly the worst and most stupid Brasiilians.

On the same note, when I was in Ironbound NJ... The population of Brasillians was much higher and by no big surprise all the Brasillians I had the pleasure of meeting had mostly no education and worked meanial service jobs.

    I don't know.

He might be from the Islands.

I just have never heard a Portuguese person say something along those lines.

I have heard few ignorant central americans argue that in Brasil they speak Spanish, and be a fan of their futebol team....like the "inho's" are a dead give away.

I'm not portuguese or brasillian. I'm coming from the view of a spanish speaker picking the portuguese language.

The hardes part is (when people are speaking fast) is the "ccchhh" sound at the end of words ending in "te".

Plus if i'm not thinking I some time say the "r" when its in the middle of a word.

i'll always say "para" instead of "padah".

    BTW...portuguese is a beautiful language :)

So maybe your right.."he is lying"..lol
But again..why would someone lie about being portugese...its not like when black people claim to be half white..
"you dont get anything from lying about being portugese"
    Do you?

Recently, i was in a footie store in Los Angeles and i bought myself the Nike Brasil Anthem Jacket for the current season (think of the jacket that Parreira wore during the WC, except it is blue) and i was chit-chatting with the lady-owner. In Spanish i said that i was Brasilian and then she replied that her NT was the Seleção...

The woman's from El Salvador, for crying out loud...

After watching the ill-fated Brasil x France WC match last year, being surrounding by Latinos (the portly Latino man sitting next to me spilt his caipirinha on my flag :p), it just kinda touches my nerve :p Especially when you go around Alvarado St in Los Angeles and see all of these Latinos, you will probably see some wearing the Brasil NT camisa

Dude... don't they have their own NTs to support??? haha

Yeah, Portugal has some islands... the most prominent of them being the Azores (Açores in Portuguese)

Pauleta is a famous footballer from that island

There is a Brazilian at my work that I always talk to in Portuguese. Whenever somebody from our work passes us by, they always ask if we are speaking Spanish.. After we tell them it is Portuguese, they think we MUST be Portuguese.

    1. why are you talking about soccer with a woman...who cares what she says.

    2. WHy watch a soccer game at a bar...any bar you go you will get some ethnicity pissing you off in some way.

    3. Ya I dont get the jersey thing either. I dont see that many mexicans wearing the Brasil jersey...I see them mostly wearing the Argentina jersey. I do see american people per say wearing alot of Brasil gear. When ever I see it...I ask "se e brasillero?" 99% of the time I get a "no"

Wow man you have no idea. I went into downtown Montreal to watch the Portugal vs. England and the later game of Brasil vs. France. Almost the entire Central American population was going for the Brasil game. Once they lost, all of a sudden everyone turned to Portugal...I even remember one girl directly infront of me taking off a Brasilian Ronaldo jersey and putting on a Portugal Ronaldo jerseys....

    I held it in....lol

    (1) Well... just thought i'd be friendly and chit chat a bit haha... i like to talk
    (2) i wasn't! The bigger irony here was that i was at a BRASILIAN churrascaria haha
    (3) If i do ask those who don the camisa, i do get the same response as you ;)

    Joelzinho:
WOW... now THAT's pretty ridiculous too. Maybe that garota has a thing for Ronaldos??? lol But even still...

Wait a minute... wasn't the Portugal x Inglaterra game earlier than the Brasil x França match??? i remembered watching up to the infamous Rooney stomp before leaving to pick up my friend in LA to watch the Brasil match...

I haven't heard of the Azorian Islands. Nothing shows up in Wikipedia. Maybe they're called something else in English?

And to be fair, do you know where the Isles of Scilly are, or the Isle of Man, or the Channel Islands?
