i hope it isnt a built-in excuse for poch - if he rides with the players who have performed for him thus far - and those players prove wanting in the actual world cup - I can just hear the excuses he will have now...."i didnt have enough time" "i was hired to change the culture, and thats what i did" "these are the guys who earned a place and deserved to be here and this is the best we had"

and im worried he knows this and will just go that route regardless bc that would give him the most "defensible" situation regardless of outcome

in the march window, it is essential he throws his pets to the fire.....if these guys that he loves like berhalter, roldan, ream, luna arftsen freeman etc can play great vs a portugal and a belgium then I am totally fine with him keeping them in the team for the WC

but i am skeptical that that is what will happen

its actually never been the case that these mls guys that can do well vs concacaf can play at the same level vs pot 1 teams - that uruguay paraguay window was irregular and exciting - if it continues then so be it

but if pochs roster full of domestics bombs in march - it will really throw everything up into the air

very curious to see how he plays it in march

So no one who plays in Europe has anything to prove in March? Must have some good orange slices over there.

Why didn't you include Agyemang in this list?

With Pepi out....................Agyemang is likely "next man up" for March.

He was out after hernia surgery for the USMNT's September window.
Was called up for the October window, but didn't get off the bench.

He very much has "late charge potential" with Pepi out.
If he's called up in March, I can see him him in the running until the very end.
I can see him either making the squad or being an alternate.

If he continues playing well for Derby, that is. Sargent isn't doing anything. Downs hasn't scored this year.

its not like our options ore voluminous.

There are rumors of Premier League clubs already looking at Agyemang.
Exclusive: Leeds and Crystal Palace make approaches for Patrick Agyemang

Pochettino himself has said many times that he expects and demands effort from everyone that he calls into camp. No one in the current US team should be resting on their laurels at all.
