I am not able to follow Olympics this year due to schedule issue. Are they promoting NBCSN / MLS during commercial breaks?
I've only seen it during soccer programing. I've been looking for it during the other events but I haven't seen it. I have seen them advertising their NFL kick off special though.
There's been plenty of MLS promotion (you know, as compared to the Worldwide Leader, though that's not that high of a standard to meet). Haven't been paying attention to the timing of the ads, but it's probably been during soccer. One thing I've noticed and love is the fact that MLS images show up regularly in general NBCSN commercials. Their fall promotion ad ends with a shot of CJ Sapong sprinting away from the camera. It's a "part of the family" kind of feeling.
Lots of MLS mentions by commentators during the Honduras matches of players that are currently in MLS and incoming players (Najar, Bengtson, Martinez, and Espinoza)
I think the fact that they've not only continued but actually increased the number of MLS games they are televising while they are airing the Olympics can be considered a huge promotion of the league.
This. We've seen a lot of times where the Worldwide Leader has reduced MLS coverage when their schedule got congested (i.e. football season, or even during the WFC). To see the exact opposite is quite encouraging.
I happen to have the week off from work, so I've seen a ton of olympics. There has been a ton of ads for MLS or for NBC in general that included some MLS.
