Hmm. Not sure how I feel about that. Good for depth and better than Downing, but what kind of fee/wages are we talking about?
Walcott creates problems. he stretches defenses, and when there are two strikers like Borini and Suarez who have decent pace and can utilize the space he creates, Theo would be a boon. the question is whether he can play as a foil for Suarez and Borini, both of whom have more savvy in terms of using the defenders' lapses in positional skill to advantage. an upside to Walcott is that he had more assists than goals last season with Gunners.
Sky already nixing this one: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11669/8028476/Milan-rule-out-Carroll
I love it. Make it up, then come up with a story denying it. Advertising hits both ways. silly ********ing season
Dempsey to Sunderland for $8M? Crap, that's a fair value. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2194586/Sunderland-open-talks-Clint-Dempsey.html someone tell BR....
I like the idea of Walcott. I've said that from the start. If Carroll goes, we should break bank and make up the difference on what it would cost to snatch Cavani! He should solve our lack of goals problem.
Did you watch the Olympics? Not quite the first team for Uruguay but Cavani looked pretty out of sorts.
If I was Clint I'd refuse to sign a new contract and train with reserves rather than goto Sunderland from London
I do like the idea of Sahin playing through balls to a racing Walcott. I'm skeptical of Theo's decision-making and final ball, but he could certainly prove useful. Supposedly Arsenal offered £75K/week and won't go higher; not sure if he's leaving because of the wages or if he just wants a change of scenery, but I do think a new manager and team could do him a world of good. You get the feeling that Walcott has stagnated a bit w/ Arsenal and could grow quite a bit with some fresh ideas/motivation.
If he hasn't learned tactics, spacing, awareness, and proper use of the ball under Arsene, I'm afraid he never will at this point.
Actually, word on the street is Wenger deals very little with those things. Fabregas was quoted as saying he never learned anything at Arsenal and was behind when he got to Barca. And, all the training I've seen seems to corroborate that somewhat. Wenger trains the individual more than the collective, and he trains principles of play more than team tactics. While Walcott isn't the sharpest tool, I don't think he's adverse to learning our system based off his time at Arsenal.
i think you're ( or Fabregas was ) right. looking at Gunners play, it seems as if Wenger assembles a bunch of talented players and pushes them onto the pitch. when you have a squad like The Invincibles, you can say, "Allez! Amusez-vous!"
Walcott leaving Arsenal too? All their key senior players just cannot wait to leave Arsenal! Henry, Vieira, Fabregas, Hleb, Adebayor, Toure, Flamini, Cole, Eboue, Clichy, Nasri, Song, RVP and now Walcott? Cripes! They are definitely a selling club these days. I guess their accountants are happy. Tough for the fans. We got burned by Torres, they get burned by ALL their idols.
I actually missed the Uruguay games in the Olympics but I saw him last year in a couple of games in Serie A and the CL and he was on fire.
I like the idea. its another/extra option to use Sahin jewell game mind . Especialy in BVB Sahin maked Kagawa and Barrios a beats by his through balls, pinpoint balls intelligent pass that ended goals or denger chances. A bit o Speedy upfront players whether forwards or wings(whom can goes in for goal) can gets lots o intelligent pass service from Sahin lead.
Stewie's future looks to be at left back: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/...dgers-stewart-downing-liverpool?newsfeed=true
Meh, BR knows best, but I don't like the idea of either Suarez or Borini on the wing. It's like putting round pegs in square holes. They may fit, but they don't look too pretty. Walcott would be a decent pick up if he isn't too expensive in terms of wages. If that doesn't pan out, we could take a shot at Afellay in January when he finds out he isn't going to see anything but the bench at Barca.
I actually think he'd do a fine job there. I don't like putting Glen on the left and Kelly on the right at times. Besides, we need another attacking fullback for this system.
Love Buck's ruthlessness so far but I wonder how much of his "left back or else" talk about Downing is actually true. I wouldn't be shocked to see Downing moved by Friday, along with Spearing and Adam, with two players coming our way; still not sure what's gonna happen with Carroll but I really want him here. Whether or not he plays on Thur. will tell us a lot about his potential sale.
