Effing torn ACL, what are the chances. Oh well, Fraser will come up huge once again and hopefully Ray will get whatever was up his butt sunday out in time to pull off a huge performance...
You've lived their for a while now. you should know, chances are very good that something very awful will happen.
If it had been his other knee I'd have said greater than you might think. And I thought Villanova was above the Philly sports curse thing, being from the suburbs and all. Or do you only invoke it when it's convenient.
Uggggghhhh. With the way we were playing on Sunday with a healthy Sumpter I thought we had as good a shot as anyone to beat UNC. Now, not so much. We're still a very good team, in my opinion we are playing like a top 10 team. However UNC just has too much firepower for us to cope without our best player. I guess the silver lining is that Sumpter will not be going pro. I didn't think he would, but this clinches it. At any rate, should be a good game tomorrow night.
That might just be the single best performance I have seen from a Philadelphia team in the last three seasons. I mean including Villanova beating Kansas and anything St. Joe's did last year or the year before. That was absolutely ridiculous and I guess you have a right to be pissed off but for f***'s sake did you really think it would even be that close? Can anybody in this city appreciate what happens in a game instead of b*tching about what could have been? And oh by the way: if that basket counts, I don't think there would have been a foul called, which makes it a 2-point game with Carolina possession on the baseline and the ability to move up and down the line however much they want to inbound. That was one of the best basketball games I have ever seen with my own eyes and I damn well hope I'm not the only person who thinks that way.
Ok, I've vented in spades, so I won't do that here. To get it out of the way, it was a horrible call. I won't say it cost us the game, but the fact that the ref called a travel when either 1.) No call should have been made or 2.) A foul should have been called leaves quite a bitter taste in my throat. Fortunately it was an exquisite game. As a 'Nova student I was on cloud nine watching our performance. Our defense was remarkable in its ability to adjust and pressure the nation's most talented team. Foye stepped up in a big way, and frankly I expected him too. He has been clutch throughout the year. Also, I think the Kyle Lowry fan club has officially gone national. That fella is a bulldog with talent. Tonight my buddy summed up his tenacity well when he said, "WTF?! That 6' guard just ripped the ball away from the biggest guy in college basketball!" However too much of the offensive burden fell on the shoulders of Foye and Lowry. We could not sustain a rhythm late in the 2nd half because we had no interior offense to count on when Foye came back to Earth. Despite the bs call at the end, I'm still upbeat about our team. Over the past 2 months we played like a top 10 team and I am extremely bullish about the future of our program with Jay Wright at the helm. He has shown that he can recruit well, he's a great face for the program, he loves Villanova, and now he has shown that he can coach and teach. Our team defense, hustle, and defense is the kind of thing championship teams are built on. Throw in excellent talent, and you have a great team. It was a great year, looking forward to a lot more next year.
