They definitely have talent. The only teams I would really worry about are Paraguay and Argentina, and the sub-Saharan African teams.

Grupo A: Grecia, Corea, Mali y México.

    Grupo B: Paraguay, Ja'pon, Ghana y Italia.

Grupo C: Argentina, Serbia y Montenegro, Túnez y Australia.

Grupo D: Costa Rica, Marruecos, Irak y Portugal

Playing against the Host team aint too good. And Mexico allways has problems against the African teams. Good thing we open against the Koreans which we should be able to beat..

    Pfft, we have the talent.
Home teams always have an advantage, but that doesn't mean they fully utilize it. Look at Portugal's opener in the UEFA.

    Si se puede. ;)

I believe Iceland lost all of their games in that tourney :D :p

Grecia has a good league miles ahead of Iceland and they shouldnt be underestimated and you know the reff calls will go their way as the host team allways get special treatment. I am confident in Mexicos U-23 talent all im saying is that lets not discard the oponents because they are not traditonal squads. the games are won on the field. Aguante U-23 lets see Lucho Perez lead this squad to the finals..

Iceland never hosted any WC-17 tourney. I think you people mean Finland, who hosted the 2003 and went out in the first round.

i just heard in Los Protagonistas that Lavolpe called up Zinha from Toluca to reinforce the Olympic Team. Zinha is also going to wear #10, which i dislike.

I hate the callups. Zinha may get a chance because he was the first naturalizado and really didn´t look to be tryng for a callup because he wasn´t that great when he did and you could buy that he wanted to become Mexican. But give a naturalizado a call up to they olympics where you have only 3 spots for mexicans? Are you insane? Plus Blanco said he wanted to go and I´m sorry for Tv Azteca or whover hypes Zinha but he isn´t better than Blanco. Blanco is better and Mexican and wanted to be and Lavolpe chooses blanco over him. Plus Zinha has no experience. How is that justified?

remember where you read this first: zinha is gonna choke, yes even in the freaking olympics.

then hopefully lavolpe will stop calling him or gets fired.

It's not. I don't know how that can be justified.

i have nothing against Sinha, but the guy has absolutely no internationl team experience. if Lavolpe really wanted a creative attacker like he said, he should have stuck with Blanco. if not, there's always Jesus Arellano. they both have experience and are MEXICAN!!!!

jesus arellano has the same sickness that bofo does, they cannt finish the great plays they started with and without the ball....in that case, he should of called up kikin or cuau, but cuau would be my best choice, like somebody said in another thread, he is the only one that plays to win and its not afraid, he plays for the camiseta......who else would of left the two korean defenders just looking at each other...nobody, nobody would of have come up with la cuautemina......

I was reading the old topics and as a Finn wanted to correct that Finland DID NOT lose all games when we hosted sub-17 tournament in 2003. Finland first beat China but then lost to Mexico and Colombia and went out. :(

I don't think any "naturalizado" should be a part of the MEXICAN team...it ruins the entire purpose of representing your country. But Blanco isn't a good player anymore anyway...his time passed already. Once all the good players get on the spot and win all this publicity it seems their playing style goes wack. It's happened with Luis Hernandes, Jorge Campos, Blanco, and now Osvaldo Sanchez is heading for the same direction. As far as the actual question, Mexico can be a very well stragetical playing team when they set their minds to it. Too many times do they let their concentration down after they have a goal scored on them. They need to be confident (not over-confident) and very persistent. With the lineup they have, I'm pretty sure they can get a medal...a gold.
