Safe to say Nico Paz is on his way out? New agency signing and all.

It feels like any Castilla player that’s seems like a noteworthy talent seems to be some sort of attacking midfielder recently.

Been thinking of him....surely Modric's situation will be key for a few people.
Right now we have 8 midfielders, if we lose 2 (Modric and Ceballos), we'll have to replace them or rely more on some others on the bench (Arda).

We can just promote Paz and also give extra minutes to Arda. That's one option.

Might be better than having to sign a new midfielder in this market.

    We'd have:

    Kroos-Tchou-Fede-Jude
    Cama-Arda-Nico

Looks like enough given the extremely limited minutes played by Ceballos, Arda and Paz this season...

"sign" was the wrong word to use. I just meant we'll need 2. You're probably right....sign one and promote one (if one good enough is available within 2 years).

With Mbappe and Endrick coming, do you think Joselu stays?
I don't really think there's a need for him if that's the case.

    Mbappe/Vini/Rodrygo/Brahim for 2 spots essentially.

Or do you just keep Joselu as the emergency option since he's pretty cheap in terms of wages?

I would keep him. He is cheap, good locker room guy, who presents aerial danger and presence in the box. We have no one else in the team with similar profile.

I don't know what you guys say but seeing Nacho wear some other kit is tragedy. Spent his whole life with us why leave now? I just don't get it.

Not sure about the caveat since it is close to "He'll start unless we sign someone better", but sure. How about....$50? If he starts more at RB in 2026-2027 than anyone else.

With inflation, that bet will be worth, like, $5 by then.

Carva won't bench young Hakimi or TAA who are amongst the best already. Casemiro - Tchouameni situation could happen if we sign one of those. I don't see other RBs in Europe benching Carva before 35.

There's a reason why Danilo, Cancelo are moving from one big club to another despite being mediocre for years. RB market has been so underwhelming for long.

Or, another possibility other than just salary he maybe thinks he’s given his all to Madrid, won everything there is to win with us, had his time as captain and just wants to try something/somewhere different as a starter before his career is over
Wouldn’t swap Carva for either of them right now, they just aren’t in his league as two way players, if Carva remained fit I wouldn’t swap him for them for a couple more years at least, these guys lack real quality off the ball, I agree i don’t really see any decent RB’s out there, including those two.

I call BS on this story that Mbappe was included back in the squad as he promised to renew this year. The real reason is probably due to him sacrificing his loyalty bonus:

Yeah reading between the tea leaves back in August it was pretty clear Mbappe blinked first. The ultimatum was loyalty bonus and sit on the bench all year or play for us and forfeit bonus if you’re not re-signing.

Lucas renewal is a given. Modric should be renewed as well. He's far ahead of Ceballos in the pecking order at the grand old age of 80. Maybe let Ceballos leave and promote Paz next season.

Leave it entirely up to Luka (which I'm sure they are). If he's willing to come back even if he's only playing part-time, you take him back, no questions asked. He leaves on his own terms, he's still really good more often than not when he's out there. If he'd rather get more playing time elsewhere, we can live with that decision. He's definitely earned a renewal if he wants it.

The fact that we beat City to reach the semi finals and have only lost to one team the entire season kills a little bit more of the little excitement I have regarding Mbappé's transfer. If we win the Champions League, it just confirms we already have perfect team.

We still lack an elite scorer tbh. Could be the difference between a great team that isn't very clinical to a dominant team.

Yeah I love Vini but he is not clinical. We need a clinical finisher to really maximize our squad
